Greenberg In the News What with Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris hitting home runs and threatening Babe Ruth's mark of 60 in a season, there is a good deal of talk of Hank Greenberg's mark of 58 homers in 1938. Hank, one of the finest Jewish players in the game's annals, hit 58 in 1938 with five games to go and then failed to slam another. "The funny thing," Hank told an interviewer lately, "is that I'm most remembered for the 58 homers and because I never played a game on Yom Kippur." He would Dizon Paper Co.

Yet, at that very time, the Department was secretly backing efforts to delete an anti-block funeral service listing tactics by picketing the Egyptian ship, "Cleopatra," in New York harbor. Mr.

Goldberg, then special counsel of the AFL-CIO, obtained through tedious negotiations a policy statement in Washington on the U.S. Government attitude toward American rights in Arab ports. The State Department was eager for American picketing of the "Cleopatra" to cease. Mr. Goldberg sought firm commitments from the Department, which was represented by Acting Secretary of State C.

Many of the communities are the subject of the recently adopted depressed areas legislation." State Legislatures Act He pointed out that a number of State legislatures had adopted resolutions calling on the Federal Government to protect the rights of American citizens against Arab discrimination.

He said "The State Department and the other Executive departments concerned must give heed to the will of Congress to reassert our sovereignty and the rights of our citizens. If we have learned nothing else from the history of recent decades, it is that appeasement achieves nothing." The Arabs have continued adding to their blacklist of American ships. Mr. Curran asked President Kennedy to stop "continued United Arab Republic violations of the principle of the freedom of the seas with respect to Israeli ships and to her ships trading with Israel."
