This is a thriller about an American couple traveling from China to Moscow on the Trans-Siberia Express when they meet an outwardly friendly couple traveling the same route. Soon the friendships give way to deception, drug trafficking, murder and corrupt Russian policemen. I recommend this film because it's a story of intrigue that leaves you on the edge of your seat with an ending that is shocking. Reviewed by Marianne Sulling, Rutherford Public Library.

After graduating Becton, Rizzo competed in New Jersey's Golden Gloves competition before going pro-as a musician, not a boxer. He has also headlined solo tours in support of his three instrumental albums.

East Rutherford also has its share of notable alums. Most famous is 70-year-old Dick Vitale, the college basketball broadcasting legend. Born in East Rutherford in 1939, Vitale graduated from the old East Rutherford High School and later returned to his alma mater as a basketball coach from 1964-1970, during which time he earned four state sectional championships, and back-to-back state championships for the team. Vitale went on to college coaching jobs at Rutgers and the University of Detroit, and an NBA coaching job for the Pistons, before joining the fledgling ESPN network in 1979 as a color commentator. Since then, Vitale has called well-over a thousand college basketball games and has become famous for his catchphrases, including "Awesome baby!" for outstanding plays and "Maalox time!" for the final minutes of a close game.

In 1985, Vitale was inducted into the East Rutherford Hall of Fame; in 2008, he was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in Akron, OH. Currently, major-leaguer Mark DeRosa of the Cleveland Indians, who hails from Carlstadt, though he attended high school at Bergen Catholic in Oradell, has made quite a career for himself on the diamond. Outside the world of sports, East Rutherford's most accomplished alum might be Henry Hook, whose name you may not know, but whose thousands and thousands of newspaper crossword puzzles you might have toiled over. Born in 1955, when Hook was just a 14-year-old freshman, he solved an intricate multilayered jigsaw puzzle created by legendary New York Times crossword editor Eugene Maleska.

Contained in the puzzle was the following hidden message: "YOU HAVE JUST FINISHED THE WORLD'S MOST REMARKABLE CROSSWORD." Within days, Hook had created a response to Maleska-his own crossword puzzle containing the hidden message: "WHAT MAKES YOU THINK YOUR PUZZLE IS MORE REMARKABLE THAN MINE?" Since then Hook has become crossword editor for the Boston Globe and authored dozens of puzzle books. He currently lives in Brooklyn. Last but not least, North Arlington's Queen of Peace High School recently produced Frank Iero, rhythm guitarist and backup vocalist for the pop punkemo band My Chemical Romance. The 27-year-old is known for his dramatic dress and body art-including an extreme expression of Jersey pride in the form of a tattoo of "NJ" on the inside of his lip. While on tour in 2005, Iero told a reporter: "Really, I don't know anything other than Jersey.

.1 like the congestion. I like the dirtiness of it. Now I'm getting to see the world, and it's great, but it's not better than Jersey."
