A.) it is officially stated" that 19,293 naturalization certificates have been granted to Jews who had applied for Palestine Citizenship. As the naturalization of the husband applies also to the wife, the number of persons actually naturalized is 37,997. Only 100 members of other nationalities applied for naturalization. Very few British or American Jews renounced their citizenship in favor of Palestine, a fact which is causing unfavorable comment among Palestinian Jews. It is anticipated that the Soviet Government will grant amnesty to political prisoners on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the Bolshevist revolution. Zionists who had been imprisoned for illegal assembly and rabbis arrested for demanding liberty of conscience will be included in the amnesty, it is said. Numerous complaints have been received at Warsaw from Jewish soldiers in different regiments that they were not given leave to observe Rosh Hashonah. The Polish general staff having issued instructions to all regiments to grant leave to the Jewish officers and men, the National Jewish Council is taking the matter up with the high command. Several Dutch Jews figure in the Queen's birthday honors list, among them being: Mr. S. M. Meyer, chairman of the Jewish communitly of Groningen; Mr. E. Gerson, Amsterdam; Mr. G. Hijmans of Maestricht; Mr. H. Andriesse, Brussels, and Captain J. Feitsma, who ar made Knights of the Order of Orange Nassau. The formal exercises in connection with the breaking of ground for the new $500,000 synagogue of Temple Mishkan Tefila of Roxbury, Mass., were held on the 1st inst. The building will be erected on a plot containing 90,000 square feet and will provide a synagogue with 1,500 seats and an assembly room with seats for 750. The order for the immediate expulsion of the Jewish tenants on the Zamojski estate at Wysoka has been stayed by the District Court of Lublin, to whom the Jews appealed against the courts decision. The proposed ejection involved some eighty Jewish families, resident on the estate over a century. The hundred year lease having expired, the Jews were ordered to liquidate their interests and move on. Philadelphia Mr. Harry B. IHirsh, Chairman of th.e Jubilee Committee of the (National Farji School, has made public a letter to him from Secretary of Navy, Edwin Denby, praising the undertaking of the directors of the School urging young men, especially those in th& larger cities to train for agricultural work. Jerusalem, (J.C.B.) A conference of Arab representatives from Syria and Palestine has been called for December 15th at Cairo. It is expected that demands will be formulated with regard to the occupation of Palestine and Syria by Great Britain and France. The annual conference of Jewish students of Austria has decided to convene a conference of representatives of Jewish student bodies in other countries with a view of forming a world union of Jewish students' associations. To avoid friction it was decided to exclude such questions as are likely to cause disagreement, concentrating chiefly upon cultural problems. The famous cantor Abraham Birn-baum has passed away at Czensto-chow. He was Chazan of the Great Synagogue there and was the composer of many musical scores.
