In our review we may not pass over the great number of consultations and conferences on problems which involve not only the families to whom we give money but the other members of the community directed to our offices. We sincerely regret that we have no means to record the nature, character and extent of the work undertaken by our staff in these other numerous instances. We find in Miss Elizabeth Berlin.

(J.T.A.) The Jewish community of Pfalz in Bavaria donated the synagogue in the town of Wattenheim, which is under its jurisdiction, to the Catholics of that town. The synagogue has not been used for a number of years. This action of the Pfalz Jewish community is due to the dissolution of the Jewish community of Wattenheim as a result of the removal of the Wattenheim Jews to the larger cities. Jew, On Deathbed, Declines Blood Transfusion from Christian London. (J.T.A.) The curiously interesting question of whether a Jew, on the point of death, should refuse an infusion of Gentile blood if he knows that such an operation can save him is arousing great discussion.

In the London hospital lies a Jew, whose name the press does not mention, refuses to allow steps to be taken that may save his life. The donor, a member of the London Blood Transfusion Service, was asked to come to this hospital so that he transfusion might be made. The patient, on learning that the donor was not a Jew, flatly refused to submit-to the transfusion, saying he would not allow Gentile blood to flow in his veins. She has contributed much toward our progress in dealing with cases which required specialty service. We are beholden to Miss Ro-senblum for her devotion to the work in general and to our many difficult problem cases in particular.

We are proud to find diminishing number of cases in the Reform and Industrial schools and have, indeed, few of our community in any penal institution. The special task of reclaiming the wayward boy and girl remains for Miss Rosenblum, who, in addition to her general duties in the service, is virtually specializing in these important and intricate problems. As the treatment is necessarily experimental, the processes are observed and results sought with much concern by all of us. Contacts With Other Organizations The requirements of our children for free kindergarten training is notable; and happily some of the children of our own dependent families are receiving the benefits at the State Teachers College.

The demonstration of achievement urges the necessity of creating a local school in our immediate community which we hope will be established at an early date. DR. In 1909 he served as Assistant United States Commis sioner of Immigration, and a year later was named chief of the foreign population census of New York City.
