Stores Open Every Evening Until Christmas Jewish Youth Council Appoints Chairmen For Interclub Activities Alan Shafrin, Director of Main Service Division, Names Smith, Davis, Gross, Peckarsky and Weinstein as Assistants Five chairmen to assist Alan Shafrin, Director of Interclub activities, were appointed at the last meeting of the Jewish Youth Council of Milwaukee, held at the Jewish Center Nov. 23. They will function in the division most closely connected to the groups who are member organizations of the Council.

Hy Smith of Alpha Kappa Tau, Milwaukee State Teachers college fraternity, was named chairman of the athletic committee. He will arrange a program of competitive and recreational sports for both masculine and feminine groups. Basketball and volleyball are expected to be the first sports on the program. Herschel Davis of the Young Men's Hebrew association was appointed chairman of the forensic committee. He and his associates will co-operate with George Laiken, representing the Jewish Center, in sponsoring the Council's forensic program.

Fear Forensic Duplication Quite a bit of discussion arose at the meeting when the tentative forensic plans were announced. It was feared, by members of Omicron Alpha Tau and the Philomathians, that the program would conflict with the extemporaneous speaking contests held annually by these two groups. It was suggested that they confer with the forensic committee so that no conflict would arise. Neal Gross of SBYA was chosen to take charge of the speakers' bureau. He will supply member organizations with speakers for their regular and special meetings.

Material gathered by Carl Kozlow, now viae president during his term as inter-club director has been turned over to Gross. Charles Peckarsky of BHD will be in charge of exchange programs. He will keep in touch with the program chairmen of member organizations and will notify the Council of available interesting programs which can be presented by groups within member organizations. Her appointment as Hungarian minister to Switzerland made Rozika Schwimmer the first woman envoy in history which post she retained until Karolyi was ousted by the Communist putsch.

Schwimmer, smuggled on a Danube boat, had to flee to Vienna in order to escape the fate of other Jews, socialists and pacifists who had been killed by the thousands. Once again assailed as a Bolshevik agent and an adventuress who had duped Henry Ford, advocates of militarism sought by every means possible to prevent her making a living by lecturing and writing. Clubs and organizations were secretly warned against her. Editors rejected her articles. In exile from her native Hungary, and denied citizenship in the United States in 1929 because she refused to take the oath to bear arms for her country, Rozika Schwimmer is today a woman without a country.
