WJC May 6. 1983 Page 5 IPCS slates meeting On Tv Specialty camps offer variety of programs Older campers attending Camp JCC are being offered specialty camps this year, announced Judy Kissel, director of the Jewish Community Center's day camp. Theater Camp, led by Craig Kinzle, musical theater director of Music Under the Stars and the Shorewood Players, offers campers experience in all aspects of theater, from make-up, costumes and scenery to on-stage work in choreography, music and acting. All campers will perform in several productions, including an appearance at the Jewish Jubilee '83 and at Parents Day at camp. Baseball Camp, led by Arno Kirshenwitz, former profession al baseball player with the St.

Louis Cardinals, will spend the major portion of the day in practice drills in batting, hitting, fielding and in playing games. Other specialty camps include: computers, horseback riding and trip-taking for 5th-10th graders, and soccer and basketball for 4th-10th graders. For 5th-10th grade campers who desire a general camp experience, Camp Tsofim and Camp Kibbutzim offer an exposure to all aspects of camp-boating, riding, swimming, athletics, crafts, nature study and overnights. Also awarded were Barbara Stein, for her work with Soviet emigrants through Jewish Family and Children's Service, and L. Mandy Stellman, for her work with battered women's issues. Ten-year service recognition awards were given to Esther Blum, Sy Dolnick, Elaine Elkon, Rachel Jacobs, Phyllis Millman, Henry Pitt, Toby Recht, Joyce Weiss, Marianne Wilson and Betty Zien, all volunteers at Jewish Family and Children's Specialists on camp staff Island, 111., where he met a former Milwaukeean who still sends her children to Interlaken and who told him about the camp. In addition to Sabag, Interlaken will bring in other special staffers. Sergio Schultz, 21, of Mexico City will be a counselor.

He speaks Spanish, English, Hebrew and Yiddish and has traveled to Israel and worked in camps in Canada and Texas. He will bring to the camp a strong Jewish and sports background. Arts and Crafts Director Celeste Rouben of Louisville, is studying at the Art Institute of Chicago. 453. An Israeli track star will be the shaliach (Israeli emissary) at Camp Interlaken, Eagle River, this summer, announced Camp Director Paul Chase. Shem-Tov (Shemi) Sabag, 24, of Tiberias, will represent Israel in the 1984 summer Olympics in the marathon. He is also an Israeli steeplechase champion and placed second in the Israeli Road Running Championship in 1982. He has also been an athletic director in a Jewish camp in New Hampshire and has coordinated athletic programs while in the Israeli Army.

He has extensive background in swimming, self defense, physical fitness training, volleyball, soccer, canoeing and basketball. His role in Interlaken will be to enrich the camp's Israel programs and to develop a running program. He is currently attending Augustana College in Rock 719 N.
