ByJEKEMYPELZES Star-Tribune capital bureau CHEYENNE Three Republican state legislators announced this week that they'll run for re-election. Veteran lawmaker Eli Bebout, R-Riverton, said in a media release Thursday that he'll seek a second full term representing Senate District 26, which reaches across Fremont County from Dubois to Jeffrey City. Bebout, a 65-year-old ofl and gas company owner who ran unsuccessfully for governor in 2002, has become an influential senator since he was appointed to the body in 2007, chairing the powerful Senate Minerals Committee. So far, Bebout faces no opposition for the seat. Reps.

Keith Gingery and Ruth Ann Petroff both Jackson Republicans, also announced Tuesday in a joint news release that they'll be seeking re-election. Gingery will run for a fifth term in House District 23, which covers most of Teton County. The 41-year-old deputy Teton County attorney currently serves as House speaker pro tern and chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. Petroff, the 45 -year-old owner of Snake River Roasting Company and the wife of Jackson Mayor Mark Barron, is seeking a second term representing House District 16, which takes up most of the town of Jackson. She's perhaps best known for sponsoring successful legislation in 2011 that allowed the state to sell 1,400 areas of scenic state-owned land within Grand Teton National Park to the federal government.

No candidates have yet stepped forward to challenge either Gingery or Petroff. Today COUNCIL Continued from page A3 Patterson will meet with state officials for further discussion on April 25, which he said was the earliest date available. Representatives from the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services on Tuesday said they were most concerned about any state legislative changes conforming to federal rules. Tobi Wickham, a work force programs administrator, said the broadened resolution could potentially put Wyoming's system under scrutiny from the U.S. Department of Labor if passed byWAM.

"Some of what you're trying to change could have much bigger impact, that we don't want to change," she said. Wickham agreed that the current system could have flaws but insisted a coordi God of Carnage at Black Box Theater. Tickets cost $20 adult and $15 studentsenior. She said problems should be examined internally first. But Councilman Bill Brauer said it seemed ben efits have been awarded no matter what, which penalizes business when the issue was a procedural misstep or mismanagement of a case by the state. "It seems like you almost have to murder somebody to get disqualified," he said.

Goodenough said he still had a few problems with the amended resolution. He said issues brought before the council should be discussed well in advance of any decisions, which is seldom the case. "It's not that right for us to issue these blanket statements when there's a thousand and one variables that exist out there in the real world," Goodenough said. Resolutions seeking WAM action had to be submitted by Wednesday and will be reviewed at a conference in June. Councilman Paul Bertoglio, the president of WAM, said the organization can accept the city's request or modify it to reflect new information that might become available.

"We're not out here pointing fingers saying that, 'We know what it We're just simply going to support the work because it does sound like there are issues," he said. 8 Reach city reporter Kelly Byer at 307-266-0639 or kelly.byertrib.com.
