Whether it's rock-and-roll or rhythm and blues, national acts or local talent, music fans can't complain about a lack of activity this summer.

Among the highlights is the return of Cheap Trick's power pop, pulling into the Birch Hill Night Club in Old Bridge on June 7. Rock veteran Steve Winwood plays irving Plaza in Manhattan Wednesday though next Friday, while the Brian Setzer Orchestra also appears at Irving Plaza July 24. Haven't made your Independence Day weekend plans yet? You may want to check out Joey Ramone's July 4th Extravaganza at Coney Island High in Greenwich Village. Two of the most influential rap groups come together on June 20 when Run-DMC and Englewood's Sugarhill Gang perform at Tramps in Manhattan. The soulful sounds of Regina Belle can be heard at the Blue Note in Manhattan from July 22-27; Peabo Bryson also has an extended run at the Blue Note, from July 29 to Aug.
