Betty passed away on Monday, December 29, 2003 at the age of 86 at Regina Pioneer Village. Betty was predeceased by her husband, Cyril in 1993; her parents, John and Stana Nistor; sisters: Anna, Lina, Annie, Eva and Lena; brothers: John, Niculaie, Constantin, Vasil, law, Alex, Nick Walter and and Tom; Arthur and two brothers is survived by her son, Glenn (Barb) and her grandson, Jason; and her daughter, Geraldine Bond; four sisters-in-law: Anne Karpa, Mary Nistor, Dorothy Bond and Blanche (Jonathon) MacNeil and numerous nieces and nephews. Betty and Cyril farmed in the Cupar area for many years, where Betty spent many hours tending her garden and participating in community activities.

Locally Owned Building Our Own Tradition NOTICES 8 DEATH NOTICES BECKIE- Nicholas James Beckie passed away peacefully in Saskatoon on 31st December 2003 at the age of 101. Nick was born in Vranik, Croatia on 14th November 1902, the first child of Samuel and Ika (nee Prpic) In 1906, he and his mother immigrated to Canada, joining his father on the family homestead near Bladworth, Saskatchewan. Nick attended school for only 4 years; his mother died when 14, and being the eldest child, he stayed home to tend to domestic well as farm chores.

In 1927 he married Cecilia Zdunich. Nick and Cecilia worked hard to establish their own farm (close to the Beckie homestead), where they raised seven children and were active members of their community. Their children are, from oldest to youngest: Ken (Helen nee Meyer), Lawrence (Margaret Ann nee Kergen), Dorothy (Dan Braidek), Vincent (Hilde Yungmann), Dr. Gerald (Robin nee Diemert), Sam (Rosemary nee Heibert), and Dr. Mary (Alan Weninger).

Nick was a very resourceful man, could fix just about anything, and was an avid reader. He was also for his athletic nature, extraordinary vigour and youthful appearance. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 50 years. In 1983, Cecilia passed away and in 1985. Nick married Helen Buerkle.

Helen and Nick enjoyed each other's company and lived independently in their own home, until just recently. Nick will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife, Helen, his brother (Pat), his sister Mary Blaney, his brotherin-law Victor Zdunich (Marg) his children, his 28 grandchildren, his 46 great grandchildren, and his nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his mother (1917), his sister Millie Herman (1937), his stepmother Palona (1941), his father (1951), his grandson Frederick (1974), his wife Cecilia (1983), his granddaughter Sara (1985), his brothers George (1996) and Martin (2000), and his great-grandson Jared Cooper (1997) and grandson Gary (2001). The family wishes to thank the staff of Prairie Spring Care Home for helping Nick during his last months. Prayers will be held for Nick at 7:00 p.m.

on December 19, 2003 at the age of 88. His five beloved a children Robert (Toronto), Roy (Surrey), Ken (Edmonton), Elaine (Qualicum Beach), and Richard (Surrey) were at his side. Besides Robert's natural family, his Saskatchewan step-family mourn his death and will miss greatly. They are daughter Lynn (Bud) Kirk of Regina with children Rob (Paula) and Scott (Brenda), and son AI (Sandy) McAllan of Saskatoon with children Nicole (Don) Kenney, Laura (Alun) Ash, Kim (Morgan) Reid. "Great-Grandpa Bob" will live forever in family lore for Robert's great-grandchildren Ryan, Alyssa, Ella, Eddye, Michael, Kelly, Jaeme and Nicholas.

Robert Regina from his native B.C. to establish Signal Industries in 1971. ins Signal is still the primary supplier of Saskatchewan highway signs, licence plates and licence validation stickers. He was a machinist, and and entrepreneur engineer by by trade, nature. and While an a young man in British Columbia, he developed the No-Sag spring used widely in mattress and furniture construction.

Soon after his arrival in Regina, Robert met Livella McAllan. They were kindred spirits. Together they forged 30 years of enterprise, adventure, and inter-family rapport. Their circle of friends widened through involvement in Rotary, Junior Achievement, Canadian Club, I.0.D.E. Together they built a beautiful home and garden, often hosting cocktail or garden parties to support their colleagues in the Gladiola Society, I.O.D.E., and other mutual endeavors.

Robert was an engineer with the Merchant Marine during World War 11, sailing on the converted Empress of Japan and visiting ports around the world. He and Lu also travelled extensively, and a flight over the tip of Antarctica allowed Robert the distinction of having seen every continent on earth. Their lovely apartment in Puerto Vallarta provided a winter escape for several years for them and other family members. Robert was predeceased by his wife Luella, first wife Jocelyn, and sister Muriel. A memorial service was held on December 21 in Surrey, B.C.' GILCHRIST -George William.

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of George Gilchrist, on December 24, at the age of 68. George was a loving soul mate to Sunni Glaze, father to Tina Visnevsky (Joey), Colin Gilchrist (Susan), and Cindy Overman (Andrew), and Papa to Devon, Dana, Kayla, Dakota, Myah, Lynlee, Johnathan, Jennifer, Andrew, Shelby, Connor, Ryan, Jerri Dillon. George will be fondly remembered by many good friends and all who knew him. A special thank you to dear friends Paul, Sasha, Don and Isabel for all their love, help, and support. GERWAUTZ- On Monday, December 29, 2003, Doug Gerwautz, beloved husband of Marilyn Gerwautz, Sintaluta, Sask. passed away at the age of 52 years. The funeral service will be held in the chapel of the Tubman Funeral Home, Wolseley, Sask. on Saturday, January 3, 2004 p.m. with Connie Sykes officiating.

Interment in the Sintaluta Cemetery. late of Regina passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 30, 2003 at the age of 64 years. Predeceased by his parents Fred, Tina, and brother-in-law Joe. George was a longtime employee of Inland Aggregates (BA Construction). He will always be remembered for his love of family, music and unique and large rock collection.

A VISITATION for family and friends will be held at the Regina Funeral Home, Hwy East on Saturday, January 3, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. in to be followed by a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. at Regina Memorial Gardens Cemetery and a reception to follow.
