This Is an Ideal vehicle for the popular film star, It gives him an opportunity to make love, to fight, to suffer and to win the hearts of his admirers on and oft the screen. The production was made Independently by the star under the Ritz Carlton banner.

Nlta Naldl and other screen luminaries portray leading roles In support Valentino. A Christie comedy, "Bright Lights," featuring Bobby Vernon, and the Strand Review complete the bill. "That Boyle Girt," T). W. Griffith's latest contribution to the motion picture world, has been secured by Manager Samuel Friedman for presentation all next week at the Strand.

"That Royle Girl" Is an amazingly truthful picture, a startling expose of ultra modern life in circles that are (reared to a man jazx tempo circles. With such a quartet of "ace" players Carol Dempster, James Klrkwood. Harrison Ford and W. C. Fields heading the powerful cast, it follows naturally that the acting is decidedly spirited and the characterization flawlessly handled.

Adv. TS3 FALL OUT," OOKPAJTY Every actor who has achieved prominence on the stage has had his picture drawn by numberless artists, caricaturists and cartoonists, and while there are of course both good and bad artists In every line of creative work, there are always some of drawings that turn out to be good likenesses. This Is not the case.however, with Ernest Truex, who plays the title role In the popular comedy "The Fall Guy," which comes to the Academy Theater for two days only, beginning December 25, with a matinee on Saturday. According to Mr. Truex, there has never been a drawing of him that really looked like him.

"There Is something about my face," said Mr. Truex, "that seems to defy the pencil. Photographers make my pictures look like me, but artists do not. I suppose the explanation is that I have a face that is a good face for an actor, that Is to say, It has no striking characteristics, such as thlok eyebrows, deepset or a long upper Up, any of the other features that cartoonists easily seize upon and make the basis of their amusing exaggerations. That year Henry Ford succeeded In liberating tie automobile world from the Selden patents, and started the automobile on its remarkable rush toward perfection. Until then an automotive engineer couldn't devise a simple Improvement without being stopned by a Selder. patent, for Selden at that time had rights to practically everything that took part In making an automobile go.

The Selden of radio today appears to be Prof. Marlus Latour, of France, who came here recently and assigned his patent rights to a group of radio Arms for a tidy sum. The patents, according to Latour, are so general and almost universal in their scope, that practically every receiving set today could be considered an infringement all except the simple crystal receiver. Threat Xa Present The owners of these patents In America have made no threatening moves as yet. But they have the power to do what Selden did until Henry Ford came along and had the courage and the backing to fight his rights Up to the TJ.

S. Supreme Court. Nothing probably will be done until some Independent radio manufacturer begins to challenge the Held with a receiver better and cheaper than any of those brought out by the Latour patentees. In fact, the radio world can't rest easily while this threat hangs over its head. Licensing Isn't strange to the radio world, however.

Fourteen manufacturers of neutrodyne receivers are licensed by the Haieltln. Corporation and pay this firm a fee In proportion to their sales. This corporation Is now suing a few alleged violators of Its neutrodyne rights. and on the outcome of these suits may depend Its life. The most generally taed receiver today is the regenerative.

Most manu facturers base their designs on that principle. Yet, If It came to a showdown, they could all be stopped, or at least licensed, by Latour who claims patent rights to many features In the regenerative hook up. Use even of the vacuum tube, or of sockets that are designed for the use of vacuum tubes, has already been contended by one of the larger radio firms as illegal. The court dockets are full of cases covering suits of all kinds over radio patent rights. The latest is of the $60, 000,000 suit of Prof.

Reginald A. Fes senden, the famous scientist and Inventor, agalnstelgl.t of the largest radio manufacturers In the country. In It he alleges Infringement of his many patent rights In the wire and wireless field. The outcome of such action Is awaited anxiously by the radio Industry, for on It depends the fvture development of the science. 5 BELL BOYS, CLERK IN PITTSBURGH HOTELS HELD ON DRY CHARGE PITTSBURGH, Deo.

1. (A. Five bell boys and a clerk, employed in four of Pittsburgh's largest hotels, were arrested today by Federal prohibition officers and charged with selling Intoxicating liquor to guests. Warrants for the bell boys, two of whom worked at thi Hotel Henry and one each at the Fort Pitt, William Penn and Monongahela House, were obtained after dry agents who had posed as "guests" at the hotels, made affidavits setting forth that they had purchased alleged contraband liquor from the men. The clerk arrested was an employe of the Monongahela House, and prohibition headquarters said tonight that warrants had been issued for the arrest of two more Monongahela bell boys.

Managers of the hotels went to the offices of Prohibition Administrator F. C. Balrd after the arrests had been made and disclaimed any knowledge of liquor selling In their establishments.
