Marion Solbrekken. Mother-in-law, Bruna Defend, and Grandson, Daniel Defend, She is survived by and will be greatly missed by her loving family, Husband Daniel Defend. Daughter Jennifer Stare (Ryan), Son Christopher Folk (Jill). Stepsons Adrian Defend (Bobbi), Dustin Defend (Sam).

BC, May 26 at 2 p.m. -01296213 FORD, Perry Boston August 19, 1924 April 30, 2016 Perry was born in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire, England. The son of Alec Ford and Sarah (Boston) Ford; he had 8 sisters. Perry served as a navigator in the Royal Air Force from 1943 to 1946 immigrating to Canada in January 1949 and marrying Evelyn (Dyer) in October of that same year. Perry had a successful career in contracting (P.B.

Ford Co.) and retired in 1991. He is survived by his wife Evelyn, sisters Hilda, Rita, Iris, Beryl. Sallie and Jacquelyn, son Cary (Mickael), daughter Sheri (John) and grandsons James, Steven and Liam. Perry's strength, wisdom and love of family will be dearly missed by all. FOWLE, Irene December 27, 1926 May 3, 2016 Fowle, Irene (Renie) Suzanne passed away on May 3, 2016 at age 89.

She was born in Portland, Oregon to Dr. and Mrs. R.C. Fierheller. Vancouver Renie obtained entered her educationin where she the teaching profession, teaching in Powell River.

Nakusp and North Vancouver. She was predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband John in 2006, sister Isobel MacLean, two nephews and one great niece. She will be sadly missed by her son Gary (Emily), daughters Donna Milligan and Diane (Steve) Toevs, grandchildren Candyce (Denise), Dan. Melissa, Sheena, Carly (Dan) and Mandy (Brendan), great grandchildren Jessica, Laurie, Teegan, Jamie and Ellie and other relatives and friends. Martha passed away peacefully at the age of 88 at VGH. She was predeceased by her husband Lionel in 1996.

She is survived by her three sons. Bob (Shirley), Mike, Tom (Teresa), granddaughter Monique, greatgranddaughter Alexandra, sister Hannah of New Brunswick, brother Tom Jr. (Brenda) of the Sunshine Coast. She is also survived by her step David Hunter (Sharleen) and step granddaughter Cheyanna. Martha was born Sussex, New Brunswick and, along with her husband and three children, relocated to Vancouver in 1963.

She liked to travel and went to Hawaii on numerous occasions and to many countries in Europe including the UK. The family would like to thank the staff at Broadway Pentecostal Lodge for their kind attention to Martha over the last 2 years and also the doctors and nurses at VGH's 11th floor geriatric unit for their care and attention in her final days. 2016 following a brief illness. Donna was born and attended school i in Edmonton. She fulfilled her passion to care for people and received her RN from the Royal Alexandra Hospital School of Nursing. Subsequently Donna married Glenn Irving and they were blessed to have two children, Janice and John. In 1971 the family relocated from Edmonton to Vancouver where Donna's family remained the centre of her universe.

The family wishes to thank Donna's sister, Marilyn, who visited Donna regularly. During the last two years, Donna received superb care at the Lynn Valley Care Centre in North Vancouver. Her dazzling smile and kind words earned the respect of her fellow residents, the Care Centre staff and the volunteers. Pre deceased by her husband William (Bill, 1970), sister Fran and brother Orville. Survived by her son Don; throughout life they relied on each other and shared a very special bond. Pearle loved anything lemon, the symphony. literature, flowers, wildlife, watching eagles and the the ridge. Aforward thinker.

Pearle was honest, caring, and compassionate. Asister, treasured aunt, nurse, teacher, lay volunteer chaplain and friend, she will be missed. Born in Neepawa, Manitoba on January 26. 1933. survived by his wife of 58 years, Leona; sons, Joe (Mary). John (Kim): grandsons Kaimon, and Jackson: and sisters Kay and Frances. Vic was predeceased by daughter Marie: parents John and Anne Grasky; and brother Stan.

Vic worked in the automotive industry which began in Neepawa, Manitoba. Upon moving to Vancouver, he worked for Dueck's and then purchased his own full Service Gas Station in Vancouver. Vic's friendly and outgoing personality shined as shown by the many friends he made throughout his life. Vic was born an athlete and loved all sports. After his competitive years in sports were over, he took up refereeing and coaching, passing on his vast knowledge onto the next generation.

He enjoyed spending time at the cottage in Davis Bay which provided great fishing and stunning sunsets that will never be forgotten. Vic was a devoted husband and loving father, always there to help in any way he could. He will be deeply missed by all. Memorial service on Saturday. May 21, 2016 at p.m.

VALLEY VIEW FUNERAL HOME (604) 596-8866 GROENEVELD, Carmen October 1,1914 May 6, 2016 Carmen passed away peacefully on the evening of May 6 at Morgan Place, in Surrey, Her long and eventful life remains a source of inspiration to her many friends.

After fleeing Estonia during World War Two, Carmen spent one year in Germany and five years in Holland. She was sustained through many difficult circumstances by her strong faith. Carmen came to Canada in 1950 with her husband and mother Maria, and worked for many years as a practical nurse. Carmen's, strong love for animals and nature was well known. She was a shrewd observer of human behaviour.

Her and sense of humour will always be remembered. Much loved, and now missed. HALL, Ranjit Singh March 25, 1917 May 4, 2016 Ranjit was a proud, principled and charming man, who loved singing, big band music. joking and spending time with friends and family. With trailer in tow, Ranjit took his family exploring across Canada, creating memories that outlive him.

Born in Halwara, Punjab, India, Ranjit travelled halfway around the world to find home in Ottawa, a city he much loved in a country he cherished. Ranjit came to Canada aboard the Empress of Asia and disembarked in Vancouver on November 11, 1924 with his parents, Gokal Singh Hall and Bhagwan Kaur Hall. A firm believer in the value of education, Ranjit was avery proud graduate of the University of British Columbia. Ranjit left the sawmills of Vancouver Island to become the first Sikh and native of India to be appointed to the office of Citizenship and Immigration, Government of Canada. Ranjit eventually rose in government to become the Chief of the Human Rights Division of the Citizenship Branch, Department of the Secretary of State of the Government of Canada, Ranjit previously worked for the Government of India, first in the Trade Office and later in the Commercial Office (Joint India Trade Commission Office) and also for the India High Commission in Canada.

Ranjit was a proud Canadian, being conferred with his citizenship at birth due to his father's residency in Canada at the time. Ranjit never forgot his Indian heritage and was the founding president of NACOI (National Association of Canadians of Origins in India). Throughout his life Ranjit was committed to the cause of human rights, especially the rights of immigrants and refugees. Ranjit is survived by his much loved sister Karem Wright (Harold) and her family (Arun, Kirin, Missy, Oliver and Myles) in Toronto, his brother Dleap (the late Maureen) and niece Tara in Ottawa, and his brother Mactiar Hall (Sura) and his family (Prem, Salim, Roshan and Kieren) in Toronto, as well as the family of the late Mit Hall in Vancouver, B.C. (Gokal, Darshun and David).

Ranjit leaves behind three children. Darson (MarySusan Cardill) in Ottawa, Valeri Hall Little (Andrew Little) in Toronto and Kathryn Hall (Jim Mastrich) in New Jersey. A cherished daughter, Sheila Hall Van Gijn predeceased him. Ranjit had 6 grandchildren: Lauren, Tristan, Zachary, Devin, Jasmine and Priya, Ranjit's dream was to attend medical school and while he never got there in life, he has donated his body to the University of Ottawa where perhaps he will finally be in the company of the doctors of tomorrow. Marguerite lived her life fully, being kind, extremely gracious, developing deep and long lasting friendships and being supportive of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her loving marriage with Don, lasting over 50 years, was filled with shared values, the nurturing of their sons and their families. raising and preserving much of their own food, family holidays, laughter, gentle affection and AEFAP (Any Excuse For A Party with its 'happy hours' before group dinners.) We will miss her dearly but take solace in the fact that her strong non-judgemental character, compassionate qualities and unconditional love for her family have been passed along to the next generations. Marilyn raised her family in Eagle Harbour. Over the past 28 years, Marilyn called Bowen Island her home, living most of the years with her partner Al Davidson. Marilyn is remembered for her generous heart and giving nature, her love for fun and laughter.

C1300531 LE GALLAIS, Maurice Edward May 20, 1932 May 8, 2016 Maurice Edward Le Gallais, 83, of Vancouver, BC, passed away at St John Hospice on May 8, 2016, his loving wife of 60 years by his side. Maurice grew up on 44th Ave near Main St and attended John Oliver High school where he met his wife to be on the tennis team. His artistic talents initially led him to study Architecture at UBC. His true calling was to become a Chartered Accountant, his career for more than 30 years. Maurice was an avid outdoorsman, one of the original trail blazers in Manning Park.

His passion for the environment inspired him to volunteer his retirement years with the Pacific Streamkeepers Federation who were instrumental in rehabilitating the Spanish Banks Stream from a dumping ground for old tires to a viable ecosystem now used by salmon for the first time in over 70 years. Maurice is survived by his loving wife, Eileen, children: Michele, Denise and Michael and their spouses, and grandchildren: Tyler, Sara, Steven and Heather. He will be fondly remembered by family, friends, and so many others whose lives he touched with his gentle soul his humour, kindness and desire to leave the world da better place. A gathering to celebrate Maurice's life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to an environmental charity of your choice.

LILLOS (NEE MOUM), Grethe Synove July 2, 1920 April 22, 2016. Predeceased by daughter, Julie in 1986 and husband Ernie is survived by daughter Karen, son Geoff (Gloria) and grandchildren Natasha, Sarah and Stefan, Born in Porsgrunn, Norway, she brought her Norwegian strength character to Canada and was entirely devoted to her family. Karen and Geoff were with her when she died, and a private family gathering was held on May 10. She was predeceased by husband both were long time residents of Port Moody. Jean will be sadly missedby her brother Bill and daughters Carol Bottom (John) and Cathy Morrison (Jay). Jean had a deep and abiding love for all of her family including her grand children and great grand children A donation to the SPCA would be greatly.
