Genn, who was 68 when he died in May, had a career that spanned 50 years. Born in Victoria, he lived and worked in Surrey. His daughter Sara said that after her father was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, she helped him go through all the work in his studio to make sure only the best works survived him.

Anything he didn't feel was up to standard, Sara said, was destroyed a common practice among many artists. Out of that archive, 60 paintings were chosen for the exhibition that opens simultaneously across the country. Each gallery has 15 works. Sara said that while the coordinated exhibition by the four galleries means that his paintings are being offered for sale to the public, the exhibition is more than a sales event. "He put about half a million dollars into research and patenting. The challenge was to get the right variety that would grow into the (plastic Frankenstein) mould." The first thing people ask at the store is if it's real or plastic, Huntley says. If the inside is hollowed out, and a candle is placed inside, the eyes will glow.

If it isn't hollowed out, it will last four to six weeks. If carved out it will last as long as the traditional carved Halloween pumpkin.
