Melba was born in Stoughton, Saskatchewan on April 2, 1928. Her family lived in Kamsack and Winnipeg before she moved to Regina. She was predeceased by her parents, James Cynthia, brothers Robert, Neil and Duncan, daughters Kathleen, Heather and Irene. She is loved and will be sadly missed by son Robert, grandchildren Justin Ray Worbel and Tyler George Desiarlais; sisters Ruth (Gil) Ruel, Jim, Monique and Aline, Mary Lasuta; niece Sandra (Gerry) McAuliffe and her special boys Billy, James and Scott Riddell.

She will be remembered by special friends Wally Garrioch (Brenda) and family, Abe Garrioch (Shirley Schaffer) and family, Bill Riddell (Ruth). A special thank you to her wonderful friend, Elinor Agar. A special thanks to all the nurses at the Palliative Care Unit. Their caring and understanding is sincerely appreciated. Melba delivered the Leader Post for many years and received many service awards.

ECKEL-It is with great sadness the family announces the tragic death of Brian Francis Eckel at Chitek Lake on Saturday, May 25th, 2002. He was predeceased by his parents, John Emma, his brother Clayton, sister Marcella Jesse, and nephew Clinton Grimes. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Jean and their seven children: Glen (Bev), Carol (Reg) Loney, Dwight (Linda), John (Pat), Dan (Sylvia), Randy (Donna), Brad (Jill) and sister Fern. Fourteen Grandchildren and five Great Grandchildren. Jack was very involved in his community and spent his entire life supporting and enjoying life in Lampman. Call the Classified line and ask if you qualify for one of our Super Specials! 8 DEATH NOTICES THOMPSON John (Jack) Samuel Thompson-long-time resident of Ormiston, Saskatchewan, passed away early 27, 2002 at Moose Jaw. Survived by his wife May, daughter Janice (Kim) Anderson and granddaughters Gillian and Keira, Jack was predeceased by his parents Samuel and Mary Ann Thompson, and by his daughter Carla. Born July 31, 1918 in Winnipeg, Jack grew up and attended school in East Kildonan.

He early exhibited a strong work ethic, delivering newspapers as a boy, and when he turned 16, founding and operating a fuel delivery service. After graduating from high school, Jack studied engineering at the University of Manitoba, while still operating his business. War intervened. Jack joined the Royal Canadian Air Forace, serving first as a flight engineer, then in aircraft maintenance. He was posted in England with 44( (Rhodesia) Squadron and then with 420(RCAF) Squadron, thereafter returning to Canada to serve in the British Commonwealth Air Training Program.

Jack met and on September 30, 1944, married May Florence Lingard of Brandon. After his discharge from the RCAF, Jack and May moved to Winnipeg where he finished his Mechanical Engineering degree, while working a local dairy. In 1947, Jack accepted the position of mine manager at Ormiston Mining and Smelting, and he and May moved to the mine site, near Ormiston Saskatchewan. There, Jack and May raised their two daughters, Janice and Carla, stressing the importance of family, the value of education and the benefit and support offered by rural and community life. After 49 years at Ormiston, Jack and May moved to Moose Jaw.

There, Jack constructed a pilot plant which demonstrated the feasibility of converting pulp ash into sodium bicarbonate. Jack served his community well, on the local school, church and recreation boards. He was a director of the Saskatchewan Liberal Association and the Regina Flying Club. Jack served on the board of Ports Canada Corporation, and was instrumental in the foundation of the Saskatchewan Industrial Gas and Power Users Association. Jack had four loves: his family, his church and homilies, work and flying.

All continued to play an important role until his death. The Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Saturday, June 1, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. at Church of Our Lady, 566 Vaughan Street, Moose Jaw. Private family burial will take place. Memorials for the Waterston House, 1865 Osler Street, Regina, S4P 1W1 would be appreciated.

Hilda Kambeitz, Sedley, SK; Sr. Georgina Kambeitz, Regina, SK; Martha (Michael) Gombita, Markham, ON; brother: Michael Leier, Calgary, AB; as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren, also many nieces and nephews. Kenda was born in Odessa, Russia on August 20, 1897. She was honoured as a member of the "Three Century Club" having witnessed the 19th, 20th, and 21st Centuries. She came to Canada with her parents as a very young child.

She loved flowers and was a great gardener, both on the farm and in Sedley where she and her husband retired when leaving the farm in 1949. She was predeceased by her husband, Nelles; her father, mother and two brothers. Also, she was chairperson of the residential campaign for the United Way. Much of her life was devoted to caring for others. Irma enjoyed travel, reading, movies and plays, but her greatest pastime was playing bridge. Her patience, strong faith in God, acceptance and caring attitude made her an outstanding wife, mother, daughter and sister. Countless people considered Irma a dear, dear friend.

Margaret is survived by her daughters Julia Kuhar, Betty (Andy) Tarr, Loretta (Peter) Koroluk, Margaret (Eugene) Purcha, Ann (Anthony) Antonishen; sister-in-law Alice Mate; eighteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Margaret was born January 7, 1913 in Rge 16 of the Arpad School District. In 1932 she married Steve Gyore and they farmed southwest of St. Elizabeth Church, north of Cupar, SK. In 1946, along with their four daughters, they moved to the Eskdale School District, south of Leross, SK and were blessed with two more daughters.

They spent the happiest years of their lives on this farm. In 1970 they retired to Punnichy, SK and together enioyed retirement until Steve passed away 1986. The following year Margaret moved to Regina and resided here until the present time. The family wishes to express their thanks and appreciation to Gil and Precy Lopez and the caregivers of Parkview Lodge for their quality care and compassion of Margaret during her residency. The family would also like to express their sincere appreciation to the nursing staff of the Pasqua Hospital Ward 4A and to Dr.

M. Alam for the excellent care, compassion and support given to Margaret and her family. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 31, 2002 at 10:00 A.M. in St. Cecilia R.C.

Erin was predeceased by her dad, Donald Kiehl, in July 1999, and her grandparents. She is survived by her husband, Curtis Beck, of Meadow Lake, SK; mother, Joyce Kiehl of Emerald Park, SK; sister, Kathy Lariviere and her son, Michael, and her fiance, Stan McCrae and his children, Crystal, Dayna and Derek of Grandview Beach, SK; sister, Carla (Gil) McDougall and their children, Mitchell and Janelle of Cold Lake, AB. Also bereaved are Curtis' parents, Shirley Beck and Bill Beck of Regina, SK; sister, Cathy Beck and her companion, Cory Soloducha, and his son, Danton of Indian Head, SK; brother, Craig Beck of Kelowna, BC; many aunts, uncles and cousins; her faithful dog, Cajun; and her large and loving RCMP family, who will always remember her light and life. Erin was born in Regina, SK on May 24th, 1967. She attended St.

Mary's Elementary School and O'Neill High School in Regina. In May 1999 she entered the RCMP Training Academy in Regina and graduated in October 1999, fulfilling her life long dream. Her first posting was to Meadow Lake, where she and Curtis quickly became a part of the community. Erin loved being a Peace Officer and was a teacher and role model as well, spending many hours with children as an in-school instructor for the DARE program and Racing Against Drugs. A champion in women's weight lifting, Erin travelled to competitions across Canada, the United States and Europe, where she made many good friends and won numerous awards.

She and Curtis coached Special Olympics power lifting for three years, and competed together in the Saskatchewan Amateur Bodybuilding Association contests. "Ernie" shared her Dad's love of horses and dogs; and her love for fitness, fun and fishing with Curtis, her buddy, training partner and husband of twelve years. Erin loved life, God, family, friends and all children. She brought life to all. The Prayer Service will be held at Gateway Community School, Meadow Lake, on Wednesday, May 29th, 2002 at 7:30 p.m.

MAY -Robert William of Regina, SK, passed away with family at his side, Monday, May 27, 2002, at the age of 77 years. Bob is survived by his wife, Lorna; four daughters, Rita and her husband, Brian Scobie of Vulcan, Susan of Edmonton, Nancy and her husband Arlen Bay of Harlingen, TX and Bonnie of Vancouver, B.C.; his uncle, Lorne Wadge of Weyburn, brother, Edgar and his wife Enid of Weyburn, sister, Alice and husband Earl McAuley of Surrey, B.C.; five grandchildren, Scott, Robin and Dale Scobie, David and Graham Bay; many dear nieces, nephews and friends. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Sheridan and Rita May, brotherin-law, Alvin Black and sister and brother-inlaw, Eleanor and Algot Swenson, all of Weyburn, SK. Bob was raised on the family farm, northeast of Weyburn and married Lorna Black in 1948. Bob graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in 1949 with a degree in Agriculture and with a MSc in 1969, and worked with the Saskatchewan Department of Agriculture for 25 years.

In his retirement, he spent many rewarding days on the family farm. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2002, 2:00 P.M., at Sunset United Church, 177 Sunset Drive, Regina, officiated by Reverends Lori Erhardt and Russell Walker. Interment will follow at a later date in Weyburn Memorial Gardens. Bob's family extends their many thanks to the Palliative Care Unit at the Regina Pasqua Hospital and the numerous home support staff who provided such excellent care and emotional support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob's memory to the Palliative Care Unit, Regina Pasqua Hospital or the Sunset United Church Memorial Fund.
