Arrangements are pending 8 DEATH NOTICES 6 UPCOMING SERVICES ROGERS--JOHN TREGLOAN ROGERS of Rouleau, died peacefully in his 99th year, on Thursday, March 5, 1998, following a brief illness, at Extendicare Sunset in Regina.

Predeceased his wife Gladys (Farrer); sisters: Muriel (McKean) and Helen (Webb); daughter Maxine (McHenry-Marcotte). To mourn and remember him, John leaves his sister; Barbara Atkinson; son Gordon Rogers and daughter Caroline Peck; grandchildren: Larry, Kim and Karla (McHenry); Helen, Barbara and Sara (Peck); Heather and lan (Rogers); great-grandchildren: Jonna, Angela, Brian, Jonathan, Cory, Jessica, Amelia and Caleb; many nieces, nephews and cousins. John was born in Carroll, Iowa on November 29, 1898. He emigrated to Canada with his in 1904 and settled in the Assiniboia Territory, just 12 miles N.E. of Rouleau, near the Government well on the Wood Mountain Trail.

One year later, their home address was officially changed to Saskatchewan, when it became a Province in 1905. Like most farm boys, John never went to school as we know today, he was taught at home by his mother. He took the horse and buggy to a "real" school starting when he was 13 years old. He graduated from high school, then went on to the University of Saskatchewan, where he received his Bachelors Degree in Agriculture in 1923. On a scholarship, he attended McGill University where he received his Masters Degree in Field and Animal Husbandry in 1925.

Almost as proud as he was of his degree was his remembrance of being a lineman on the McGill University football team. John farmed with his father, uncles and eventually with his son Gordon. He loved the farm and the trials that went with farming. He loved Saskatchewan and was forever grateful that his parents decided to call this land their home. Along with his love of farming, he also took great pride in the fact that he was a member of the Masons and the Order of the Eastern Star.

He became a 33 degree Mason when he said you had to get it the hard way. His friends and Brothers and Sisters in these organizations were his greatest source of pleasure and pride. John was one of our true pioneers, he lived to see the beginnings of the automobile, the airplane, electric lights, running water and paved Sask. roads and he just shook his head when they launched the space missions to investigate the outer dimensions of the Universe. One of his great pleasures was to stand outside at night and marvel at the clear inescapable beauty of the Sask.

sky and speculate about the awesome power and wonder of the Northern Lights. He was truly a kind, gentle and wonderful man. He was a gentleman in the truest meaning of the word. I'M FREE Don't grieve for me now, for I'm free I'm following the path God has laid, you see. I took His hand when I heard His call, I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work or play.

Tasks left undone must stay that way. I found my peace at the close of day. If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joys, A friend shared, a laugh, a kiss, yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow. I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
