A 7 The Leader-Post Regina Saturday, April 11, 1998 CINEMAS Blnfolinitl 35915250 Golden Mile Mall 3806 Albert St. Congratulations to Laing Properties and to their new tenants Rainbow Theatres favorites popcorn, drinks and chocolate bars. One tiring you might not notice immediately is that the concession counter has been dropped down a few inches, for the convenience of those in a wheelchair. Runge says children also like this feature, because it gives them a bird's eye view of all the goodies available. Bring down the whole family! "Going to a movie is often a family affair," continues Runge.

"Therefore, we usually have at. least one family-oriented picture on the screens at any given time. And, when school is out, we will run a late morning set of shows a feature not offered by any other theatre in town. For older crowds, we have addi-d midnight shows every Friday and Saturday night, which has been very well received by the community." Of course, having your birthday party at the movies is always a treat. At Rainbow Cinemas, children's birthday party packages are available at a very affordable price.

For a $5 admission fee per person (minimum of five children), birthday party guests watch a movie and receive a kiddie combo (popcorn, drink and chocolate bar), loot bag with candies, and another movie pass. Kids will also love the Rainbow Cinemas bear mascot watch for him at the theatre, in the mall and at your local parade day! "Being a community-minded business in a community-minded mall, we are hoping to attend as many parade days in and around Regina as we can," explains Runge. "We are also currently dressing up a novelty vehicle that will transport our bear to these events." So, the next time you want to enjoy a very affordable night or day at the movies, look to the end of the Rainbow Cinemas, that is! 9 Screen Complex Full Surround Sound Assistive Listening Device Comfortable seating Free Booster Seats Full Service Concession Video Games Room We are pleased to serve as their design consultants W.T. cee rviii Regina, SK 5o5-U41 1 Your choice of entertainment spots in Regina has just expanded, thanks to the recent opening of Rainbow Cinemas in the Golden Mile Shopping Centre. "The idea for Rainbow Cinemas grew out of a North American phenomenon, which started down in the States about 10 years ago," explains Wilf Runge, manager. "The idea was to offer consumers a night out at the movies, complete with big screen and theatre-quality sound, at a video rental price." Rainbow Cinema features second run movies, which are classified as shows that have been absent from the theatres for about three weeks after their first run. "In most cases, the movies appear on our screens just slightly before they're in your local video store," he explains. Second run does not mean second rate.

The movies are fresh, and the theatre itself is state-of-the art, with large screens, superior sound-proofing between auditoriums, stereo surround sound, and a relaxing atmosphere. The only difference is the price you'll pay to watch a movie. Every day of the week, you pay $1.50 for a matinee and $2.50 for an evening show. Plus, you have your choice of two matinee and two evening show times. Sit back and relax! 1 Inside Rainbow Cinema, you'll find nine separate auditoriums, with seating to accommodate from 107 to 200 people.

Every possible convenience has been added to make the movie experience an enjoyable one. "We wanted to make the cinema open, friendly and barrier-free," explains Runge. "It's evident tire minute you walk in you get to speak directly to our ticket-takers, not through a hole in a piece of glass." The auditoriums have been designed to provide lots of legroom, with wider-than-average seats complete with cupholders. "At different points in the theatre, we also have, installed some aisle seats With flip-up arms, so someone in a wheelchair can be transferred into one of our chairs with very little difficulty. As well, we have assistive hearing devices available at no charge to hearing impaired customers attending our shows."
