State News. Fake locators have been getting money from people in the northern part of this state for locating them on claims under the stone and timber act, where it has turned out that the claims have plenty of stone but little timber. Yeggmen robbed the North-Western station in St. Peter on Saturday night. They opened the safe and made a systematic search of the office, but did not get so much as a penny to reward them for several hours of work.

The safe was opened by manipulating the combinations. South Stillwater, a suburb of Stillwater, was the scene of a disastrous fire early Friday. Almost an entire block of frame buildings is in ruins and the loss is figured at more than $12,000, with only a small amount of insurance. The fire started in the rear of William Secrest's saloon and was presumably of incendiary origin. Burglars chopped down the rear door of the home of the Sisters of St.

Francis, at Charles and Gaultier streets, St. Paul, on Saturday night, while the sisters were across the street at the convent holding special services for the children, and breaking open a bureau drawer, stole $300 which was kept in a couple of cigar boxes. James Edward Marple, the Minneapolis printer who had been missing since Jan. 14, was drowned in the Mississippi river at Brainerd about the time that he disappeared, and there is every indication that the drowning was accidental. The body was found floating down the river about seven miles below Brainerd and was dragged ashore and tied to the bank until the coroner of Crow Wing county arrived.
