The St. Louis says the Missouri river boats are crowded with psssengers. This is the beginning of the spring emigration to Montana. Denver of March 9th says: learn by a private dispatch to-dny, that Colorado will be admitted by the present Congress, in spite of Cumming'g performances. So mote it be CbcRTERsiAiJDED.

The order for the muster out of the Volunteer troops in this District has been countermanded further The soldier boys are not the only ones disappointed. Utah is 11 th StateS' April I Basely Murdered. A miner, named Frederick VY a resident of Middletown.Shasta was recently murdered in a Chinese hell, in Shasta. As the murder was done without white witnesses, the guilty parties will escape punishment. R.

General Custar, whohas just arrived at Washington from Texas, reports that there is but little actual loyalty in that State; that there would probably be none at all if the troops withdrawn that the feople there treat greenbacks with contempt, etc. Same in only more Slandeuer. Chief -Justice Turney, of Ariiona, on the evening of the 21st of February, delivered a a lecture at Prescott, the capital of the Territory, in which he said California was a stench in the nos- tnls of the nation, and always has been that Cali- were disloyal, that her soldiers were demoral- ised vagabonds and worse than the 11th The Kansas City of says: learn that the Missouri PaciSc and Union Pacific Railroads have the contract for the portation of some ten thousand troops destined fos the Plains, and lor the vast amount of supplies and -j Government freight for Fort Riley and western posts ia Colorado and New Mexico. As the transit of these is to commence about the first of April, the Missouri Pacific Road must necessarily complete its connection with the Union Pacific, iu West Kansas, about that Horrid Tragedy. In the case of Jackson, the colored man, in San Francisco, lately arrested for an indecent assault upon a child, the Bulletin says the termination of the case for the prosecution, Colonel James arose nndjrequeeted the court to refuse bail, as he was about to ledge a charge of felony against the defendant for having, by the brutal ing he gave the poor girl, who was his wife, ed one of her eyes.

She now lies in the St. Mary's Hospital, carrying the life-mark of the most cious usage a poor child was ever subjected to at the hands of a most filthy, depraved and unmitigated Masonic Fact. Dr. R. Scott, Past Grand Master, in an address delivered years ago, made the following statement.

It is honorable to the Ma- sonic Institution and we presume the members of that ancient body will be pleased to read it and see it calculated: '-'Eroni sources of information on which I entirely rely, I state that fifty, at least, of those who signed the Declaration of Independence were Masons, and the same history informs us that every Major-General of the Revolutionary army was a mason, save one, and that was Benedict Arnold. A Fenian Raid. The Toronto of the 9tU of March, says On Wednesday, information reached the Government that a Fenian raid would, in all probability, be made from the United States into Canada next week, and it was at once resolved to call out ten thousand volunteers, in addition to the force now on the lines. Telegrams were, in consequence, despatched from headquarters, late on Wednesday night, to the commanding offieers at the different points of rendezvous throughout the Province, and, by yesterday at noon, a much larger force of men than required were under arms and ready to march to any point. Nothing could be more gratifying than the alacrity and heartiness with which the demand has been responded to all over the country but, deed, it was only what must have been anticipated by every one at all conversant with the tone of ing throughout the Province.

The feeling of our people is one of intense indignation, that the peace of the country, and the lives and property of our habitants, should be threatened by a horde of creants, simply to furnish a pretext for the pearance of the money intrusted to them by their The following particulars of the recent tragedy on the Overland Stage Line, are taken from the Denver of March 9th man killed by the passengers was named Oker, a German, and leaves a wife and two children in Denver. He bought his ticket and entered bis name on the way-bill as Fred. Hanschield. The other passengers in the coach were Mesjsrs. L.

A. Rice, a farmer, who lived near Latham, Mr. E. N. Kimball, from the mountains, Mr.

Stiles, Mr. Deidsheimer and Mr. Barlow. The story, as related by these passengers, is, that they were kened, when about f.vo miles below Alkali station, by a pistol shot in the coach, which proved to be from Oker. At the first shot, Mr.

Rice, who sat ately in front of Oker, was killed. The other gers immediately attempted to secure the murderer, and three of them were severely wounded by him. He was finally forced out of the coach and left for dead, having been shot some fifteen times. One of the escort rode back to the station, and related what had occurred, when Oker was brought in. He lived about lour hours, and related the following story before his death.

He said he had fallen asleep, and was awakened by feeling Rice's hands in his ets, and that Rice attempted to cut his throat, when he drew his pistol and tired at him. It is hended that the man must have been deranged, as Mr. Rice was one of our meat substantial and respected citizens. There seems to be considerable mystery about the affair yet, and we hope to receive a more lucid statement of it by to-day's The Rrasslield Think op it. We are living in strange times.

Red-handed murder not only stalks abroad in our midst, but he has grown popular. He is defended by the press and applauded in the Tabernacle. He is toasted at the convivial board nnd blessed at the family altar. Men follow him admiringly as phants follow their leader he is he is he is elevated to the dignity of a He subsidizes the daily papers, and their praise of him is only equalled by their denunciations of his enemies. 0 but he is a brave and orable deity He steals unawares upon his victims, while his admiring toadies stand at the comers ready to succor him from the rude gaze of the rabble.

Honest men Mormons, Jews and Gentiles, applaud his noble work. Only thieves, gamblers, mongers the dirty and the vile, condemn him in the least He who approves of his course is a honorable, reliable, he who demns him is a only fit for the bowie-knife or the bullet Such is the situation. See the 'of yesterday. Lake April 7th. Per Contra Hands It is very amusing to the Regenerators.

They jump about from side to side, and writhe and yell like well-whipped dogs. The miserable clique are getting as some to the decent Gentiles and Jews of the city as they are despicable to the Mormons. Even the men of no pretensions to religion, the very sports of the city, talk of them with contempt, and are ashamed of their Brassfield The more that the course of the Regenerators is looked at in tbis Brassfield case, the more their eous, blackened and corrupt souls are manifest. Every day throws additional light on their hellish darkness. Tbey dare not deny that they urged that man on to his death.

Every step in the tragic work proves it. The official act itself that made Brass- fieid criminal is now claimed to have been performed under the maiden name of the unfortunate woman. A gentleman informed us, in this office, that Judge McCurdy did not know that the woman before him bore the name of any man. We hope, for the Judge's sake, that it was so, and if it were so, have not the wretches who counseled the whole proceeding, the death of Brassfield upon their infamous souls if they have any A Gentile gentleman was teiling us the other day that somebody had told the parties around Brassfield that he was in danger, for the purpose of warning him to take care, and the gentleman alluded to thought that this was evidence ot a plan to pass Brassfield's death. We do not see that point, for any of the community could have told all about the end of that deed.

The people of Utah care nothing about the slander, vituperation and infamous lies of the regenerators but everybody knows that hands off is the tial doctrine. They may publish lies, preach lies, and mouth lies as freely as they please but the ment their hands are laid upon any man's family in jn illegal manner, they will find theirs a road to hell across lots. What contempt wonld every whole-souled man not heap upon this professed friend of the absent wbo would stand by and see the daughter or the wife stolen from his absent friend? We wonld spurn from us as the vilest hypocrite any man who would profess friendship for us and would hesitate to defend our honor. Brassfield has pnid the penalty of his temerity, and the only regret that we have experienced has been taat the clique of corrupt regenerators who made him their victim did not fall into the snare they laid for April 7th.
