A-14 THE SUNDAY RECORD' OBITUARIES AUGUST 9, 1992 Rites for Vivian Levi, educator By ELIZABETH LL0RENTE teachers, and administrators in the district. Those who knew her remembered Mrs. Levi, who would have turned 65 last Tuesday, as a gregarious woman constantly searching for ways to motivate children at the school to do their best. Mrs. Levi, who was known as Vicki and whose maiden name was Levine, moved from Tenafly to Fort Lee in 1989.

She launched her lifelong career in education in the New York City public school system in 1949. She taught in public and private schools in Hillsdale, Englewood, and Hackensack before joining the New Milford school system in 1971 as a reading specialist. Mrs. Levi became middle school assistant principal in 1985. She was an active member of the Bergenfield-Dumont Jewish Community Center.

Mrs. Levi, who had been traveling alone, was one of six people thrown from the gondola, which was being rowed past the St Mark's Square docks at the mouth of the Grand Canal when a wave caused by a passing ferry tipped it over, according to news reports. Surviving are two sons, Les and Howard, both of Manhattan; a sister, Dorothy Nissim of Cranbury; a brother, Michael Levine of Great Neck, N.Y.; and a granddaughter, Cassandra Levi of Manhattan. Funeral services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Gutterman-Musicant, 402 Park St.

in Hackensack. Burial will follow at Beth-El Cemetery in Paramus. The family asks that donations be sent to the Vivian E. Levi Memorial Fund, 169 N. Washington Bergenfield, N.J.

07621. Record Staff Writer Vivian Esther Levi was always there for the students, teachers, and administrators of David E. Owens Middle School in New Mil-ford. She tirelessly strove for new ways to motivate students, and she was a spiritual refuge for teachers who needed a sounding board, say school officials and teachers. On Monday, friends, relatives, and students of Mrs.

Levi will gather at Gutterman-Musicant Funeral Home in Hackensack to say goodbye to the popular educator, who died last Sunday after a gondola in which she was riding capsized in Venice. Middle school Principal Robert Seifert said her tragic death was "a tremendous shock" to students, ters, Stella McGovern, Helen Topelewski, Tessie Gra-bowski, and Laura Toboyka, all of Edison; five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. His wife, Stella, died in 1977. Mass will be said Monday at 10 a.m. at St Michael's Church, with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.

Visiting is tonight from 7 to 9 at Ippo-lito-Stellato Funeral Home, Lyndhurst. LILIAN DUDRAP, 96, of Fort Lee died Friday. Before retiring, she was a fashion designer in New York City. Surviving are a niece, Janet Flesche of Iselin, and two nephews, Frank Flesche in Arizona and Lawrence Paporello of Teaneck. Services will be Monday at 1 p.m.

at Volk Funeral Home, Teaneck, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Visiting is today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. ANITA SIMONTI ETTORE, 79, of Fort Lee, formerly of Palisades Park, died Thursday. She owned Frame and Name, New City, N.Y. She was a parishioner of St Nicholas R.C.

Surviving are her husband, Louis; two daughters, Corinne Ambrosino of New City and Mildred Ettore Berg of New York City; a brother, Elio Simonti of Bergenfield, and three grandchildren. at Frank A. Patti Kenneth Mikatarian Funeral Home, Fort Lee. ELEANOR BONAGUARO GEOIA, 65, of Toms River, formerly of Paramus, died Saturday. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Visitation R.C. Church, Paramus, and was a member of the Paramus Italian-American Club.

Surviving are her husband, James; a daughter, Bernadette Ihne of Clifton; two sons, Joseph of Luzerne, and James of North Bergen; her mother, Florence Cantelmo Bonaguaro of Toms River, a sister, Mae Argenziano of Lodi, and two grandchildren. Mass will be said Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Visitation Church, with burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Hackensack. Visiting is tonight from 7 to 9 and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

at Vander Plaat Memorial Home, Paramus. RAYMOND F. HAND, 86, of the Bronx died Friday. Before retiring, he was a purchasing agent for Otis Elevator Yonkers, N.Y. Surviving are a son, Robert of Mahwah; a brother, Gerard of Port Orange, three grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

His wife, Mary, died in 1987. Mass will be said Monday at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, Mahwah, with burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y. Visiting is today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

at Van Emburgh-Sneider Funeral Home, Ramsey. DONARD R. HOESCHELE 72, of Forked River and Punta Gorda, formerly of Bogota, died Friday. Before retiring, he was an inventory manager for Hackensack Water New Milford. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of Lacey Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10118, Forked River, and John Wesley Taylor American Legion Post 232, Barnegat.

He was also a member of Elks Lodge 2518 and Moose Lodge 19077, both in Forked River, and Elks Lodge 2763, Deep Creek, Fla. Surviving are his wife, Margaret Bergheimer Hoeschele; a son, Donard Jr. of Lodi, and two grandchildren. A memorial service is tonight at 7:30 at Riggs Funeral Home, Forked River. ANNA MARX AHLF, 89, of Ridgefield died Saturday.

Born in Germany, she came to the United States in 1924 She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ridgefield, and the Amt Ostener Club, North Bergen. Surviving are her husband, Gustau; a son, Wal-demar, and a daughter, Magda Roehr, both of Ridgefield; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Blackley Funeral Home, Ridgefield, with burial in Ridgefield Cemetery. Visiting is tonight from 7 to 9 and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

WALTER G. BIRD 79, of Oradell died Thursday. Before retiring, he was an auto parts salesman at the former Malcolm Konner auto dealership, Emerson. Surviving are two sons, Walter Jr. in Colorado and Jim of Newfoundland, a sister, Irene Preis of Oradell, and seven grandchildren.

A sister, Anna Murray, and three brothers, Edward, John, and James, are deceased. Mass will be said Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Oradell, with cremation at Cedar Lawn Crematory, Paterson.

Visiting is today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Volk Funeral Home, Oradell. GEORGE M. BUCK of Teaneck died Friday. He was a presser for General Rubber South Hackensack, where he worked for 30 years.

He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Englewood. Surviving are his wife, Martha Rice Blick; a daughter, Daphne L. Blick of Teaneck; three sisters, Virginia L. Watson of South Plainfield and Nettie L. Blick and Lillian Callis, both of Lawrenceville, and a brother, Roosevelt of Law-renceville.

BONPIETRO 62, of Saddle Brook died Saturday. Before retiring last year, he owned Tile a ceramic tile contracting company in Saddle Brook. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales R.C.

Church, Lodi, where he was a member of the parish council and a eucharistic minister. Surviving are wife, Dolores Suttle Bonpietro; four sons, Daniel Jr. of Middletown, N.Y., Robert of Metuchen, Steven of Saddle Brook, and Dennis of Paramus; four daughters, Sharon Manzo and Diane Scriveri, both of Saddle Brook, Eileen Chvasta of Elmwood Park, and Carolyn Capaci of Wurtsboro, N.Y.; two brothers, Frank and Joe, both of Clifton; three sisters, Mary Merlino of Bartow, Rose Triola of Clifton, and Clara Platerot of Elmwood Park, and 18 grandchildren. BUTKIEWICZ, 85, of Lyndhurst, formerly of Jersey City, died Thursday. He was born in Poland. Before retiring in 1975, he was a tool and die maker for Englehardt Industries, Carteret. He was a parishioner of St. Michael's R.C.

Church, Lyndhurst, where he was a member of the Leisure Citizens Club. He also was a member of the Garden Club and Sacred Heart Seniors, both in Lyndhurst, and the Rutherford Old Guard. Surviving are a son, Chester of Bridgewater; a daughter, Genevieve Treich of Basking Ridge; four sis ANNETTE R0LANDA HOWE, 79, of Passaic, formerly of Rutherford, died Saturday. Born in Canada, she came to the United States in 1929. Before retiring in 1967, she was an inspector for Becton-Dickinson East Rutherford.

She was a parishioner of St. Clare's R.C. Church, Clifton, and a member of the Women's Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 227, Rutherford. Surviving are her husband, Robert; a son, Robert of Rutherford; a daughter, Audrey Massey of Bloomfield; a brother, Edward Carbonneau of Homosassa Springs, four sisters, Antoinette Valcourt of Westford, Leona Greenfield and Alice Luminello, both of Kearny, and Clare Mabee of Newburyport, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. BEVERLY S. LOGAN, 33, of Allentown, formerly of Ridgewood, died Thursday. She was a graduate of Ridgewood High School and Cedar Crest College, Allen-town. She was business manager of the Allentown Sym-phonia. She was a member of the Young Professionals Club and the Cedar Crest College Alumni Association.

She also was a licensed real estate agent for Century 21. Surviving are her parents, Raymond and Lillian Logan; three brothers, Glenn Logan of Ridgewood, Todd Logan of Holland, and Randall Logan of Garfield, and her grandmother, Lavinia Logan of Newark.
