NEW CASTLE NEWS, THURSDAY, MARCH 9,1978 Quebec jail escape fails; 7 are hostage ST. JEROME, Quebec (UPI) Four "extremely inmates with to held the deputy warden of a small prison and six guards hostage today in exchange for $100,000 and safe passage out of Canada. Two years ago the League was able to publish a Guide to New Castle and Lawrence County as result of the financial support. This year, if the finance drive is successful, the League plans to publish a guide to the Lawrence County juvenile justice system. The guide, which is being written as the culmination of a year-long study of the local court systems and the various policing agencies, will be distributed to area children and their parents.

More than one third of the money collected locally goes to the support of the state and national League. These two groups provide services and publications that benefit everyone. The state League provides a legislative information center in Harrisburg which will provide answers to questions concerning bills, agencies, or other matters pertaining to state government. The League wants clean air, good schools, adequate income assistance, a strong United Nations, and an energy policy. These issues are national in scope, and the League feels they must be attacked by a national organization.

Such an organization can only exist through the support of local leagues, according to the League members. Bus-truck collision claims 19 in Brazil SAO PAULO, Brazil (UPI) A bus collided with a heavy truck early today and exploded in a ball of flame on a highway north of Sao Paulo, killing 19 people and injuring 5 others, the Jornal do Brasil news agency said. The agency said the bus. owned by a private firm making a regularly scheduled overnight trip from the capital at Brasilia to Sao Paulo, collided head-on with a heavy truck traveling on the Faria Lima highway 220 miles northwest of Sao Paulo. The bus swerved out of control and burst into flames when the gas tank apparently exploded.

Cozza Alberico Cozza. 92. of 133 E. Meyer Ave. died at 3:35 p.m.

March 8. 1978 at the Reese Nursing Home following a lingering illness. He was born June 16. 1885 to the late Angelo and Mary Panza Cozza in Conenza, Italy. He was married to the late Bernardina Turano.

Mr. Cozza had been a cross watchman for the Pennsylvania Railroad for 20 years and was employed in the maintenance department of St. Francis Hospital for five years. He was a member of St. Vitus Church and King Humbert Club.

He is survived by a number of nieces and nephews living in New Castle. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Peter. Luigi and Constantino and a sister. Carmella. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
