ej 9 9w E-10 THE RECORD IGH SCHOOL THURSDAY, OCTOBER 25. 1990 VOL LEYS ALL NOTE Undefeated Ramsey bows to Wayne Hills i I Kevin DeMarrais Northern Valley at Old Tappan has been a perennial volleyball power, but with only two seniors returning from last year's State Group 3 finalist, coach John English faced a difficult task this fall. He did until sophomore Christine Sacco stepped on the court. As a freshman, Sacco played most of last year for the Golden Knights' 'unior varsity, but was rought up near the and juniors Tina Bucclarelll, Kerrl Rupp, Kim Miller, and Kelly Gannon have been solid. WORK ETHIC Pascack Valley coach Karen Kohler says the Indians' success (14-1 with a win over Fair Lawn) is attributable to the players' work ethic.

"We don't have a dominant player, but we're consistent. "When you mention Fair Lawn, you mention Monica," she said, referring to the Cutters' All-County star Monica Vela. "When you mention Pascack Valley, you say, 'Watch out for We work well as a team. The girls come to me and say, 'I can't believe I did that with my TIGERS CLINCH Tenafly clinched the Bergen County Scholastic League American Division championship with little difficulty. "It would be nicer if we could come up against some tougher competition," coach Karen Gottes-man said.

"The girls want to be challenged." REMATCH Wellington has the distinction of being the only team to defeat Bogota, and the Buccaneers will be looking to avenge that defeat when the teams play today at Wellington. Last year, Sacco gained league and county honors in basketball and soft-ball.
