The action masks a dark, morally ambiguous tale about Chinese triads, armored car thieves, Greek drug runners and suave casino scam artists. 9 p.m., Showcase SPECIAL St Andrew's-Wesley Church, 1012 Nelson, is holding its first worship service to honor the earth and "humankind's role in protecting the environment," and invites participants to bring their pets to the service at 7 p.m.

Animals of all sizes and kinds should be brought on leash, rein or in cages. The service will be lead by Reverend Shelagh Mary MacKinnon and will include readings and music by the Jubilate! Chamber Choir dedicated to the earth and a blessing of the animals alive and who have passed away. Admission is by dontation. More than 400 vacation packages, furniture, antiques, jewellery, special event packages and entertainment will also be auctioned in a benefit for the Canadian Pelvic Inflammatory Disease Society. BMG recording artists, Treble Charger, play songs from their newest release, Maybe It's Me, tonight at the Starfish Room, 1055 Homer St. Legendary house mixer and hip-hop's seminal force, Grandmaster Flash, will play Vancouver for a special one-night show at Grace-land. Die Fledermaus, Johann Strauss' witty and tuneful satire on turn-of-the-century Viennese high society, gets a summer production at Vancouver Academy of Music. Here they've updated the setting to Hollywood, 1930 and the production stars Michael Walker as Gabriel fon Eisenstein and Sonja Nicolai as Rosalinde, his wife. It runs Thursday to Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday at 2 p.m at the Waterfront Theatre, Granville Island. Tickets are $18 ($14, students and seniors).
