Mature. 0 Cowboy Way 1Abody Harelson aid Kiefer Sutherland appear to be in different movies and Woody's havin' all the fun as these cowboys hit the home of those Cup thieves. Mature. (Coquitiam, Clearbrook, Station Square, Mission City, ends Sunday at Denman Place) The Crow Brandon Lee's final exit is a haunting, rock 'n' roll ride on the dark side of dark.

Unfortunately, violence, a hot soundtrack and solid acting do not a script make. Restricted. (Capitol, Station Square) Endless Summer 2 The world may have changed but surfing is still magic and director Bruce Brown has millions of dollars rather than a few thousand to revisit, with two surfer dudes, his 1964 world search for the perfect wave. Mature. (Paradise) Faraway, So Close Mature.

(Ridge, double-billed with Wings of Desire, Wednesday and Thursday) The Flintstones A complete duplication of the mindless original cartoon show, starring John Goodman and Rick Moranis. Moronic beyond belief, the set design and sheer stupidity of the whole premise should be enough to keep you entertained and giddy. General. (Coquitlam, Scott 72, Station Square, Park Oaleidge, Richport, Clearbrook, Granville) Four Weddings arxl a Funeral Inkirk A clever script and handsome Hugh Grant help make this a good old-fashioned catharsis. Mature.

Restricted. (Plaza) Speed Keanu Reeves and Dennis Hopper take a backseat to the action in this high-octane thriller about a mad bomber who will blow up an L.A. city bus if it goes under 80 krivh. Good for the wee folk. General. (Lougheed) What's Eating Gilbert Grape The director of the Swedish hit My Life as a Dog visits small-town America. The result is gentle and knowing, and the performance by Leonardo DiCaprio is outstanding. Mature.

(New West Cinemas; Hollywood, double-billed with The Paper, ends Sunday) When a Man Loves a Woman Meg Ryan is too rich and too beautiful to be believable as a drunk who bottoms out, then bounces back to discover that her marriage (to Andy Garcia) has serious flaws. Mature. (Esplanade, Station Square, Mission City Cinema, Plaza, Clove, Denman Place, double-billed with Bitter Moon) White Krzysztof Kieslowski's second instalment in his French flag trilogy. This one centres on a Polish hairdresser trying to get his wife and his Polish passport back. Well-paced, well-structured but lack of resolution will leave you scratching your head.

Mature. (Varsity, ends Tuesday) Wings of Desire Mature. (Ridge, double-billed with Faraway, So Close, Wednesday and Thursday) Wolf Jack Nicholson really growls as a werewolf, but director Mike Nichols foolishly tries to fire up a love story with Michelle Pfeiffer that just doesn't howl. 14 Years. Thanks Canucks! Gen- a era (Dolphin, Lougheed, New West Cinemas) Mother's Boys A real honest-to-evil chiller about a crazy woman who wants her children back after abandoning them for three years.

Excellent performances transform the hokey script into an absolutely horrific ride into personal hell. Jamie Lee Curtis outdoes herself as the sociopathic witch. 14 years. (Capitol, ends Tuesday at Eagle Ridge) Pacific Cinematheque 688-8202. Tonight and Saturday Ingmar Bergman: Fanny and Alexander.

Sunday and Monday: Bergmanfrarkovsky The Shame and The Sacrifice. Wednesday and Thursday C. T. Dreyer. Day of Wrath and Ordet.

The Paper An over-romanticized picture of life in a mainstream tabloid is brdught home with outstanding performances from Glenn Close, Michael Keaton, Robert Duvall and Randy Quaid. Good one-liners, but lacks narrative focus. Mature. (Hollywood, double-billed with What's Eating Gilbert Grape, ends Sunday) PCU A completely benign comment on political conectness at university ends up being just another stupid college movie centred on a wild party. Mature.

(Hilicrest, double-billed with Speech Philadelphia Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington star in this powerful story about a lawyer who's fired because he has AIDS. Mature. (Dolphin, Lougheed, New West Cinemas) The Piano Jane Campion's cold, dark masterpiece about a mute mail-order bride carted off to New Zealand at the turn of the century with her piano. Good performances from all, but sadly the cliche script leaves them nowhere to go. Mature.

(Vancouver Centre, Esplanade, Station Square, Mission City Cinema, ends Tuesday at Richmond Centre) Schindler List Steven Spielberg has finally thrown off his man-child mantle with this credible, heartfelt story. Liam Neeson is at his best as the enigmatic Oskar Schindler, who saved 1,200 Jews from the Nazis. 14 years. (Park Royal; Ridge, ends Sunday) Sirens John Duigan examines sense style antics of Macaulay Cu lkin and Ted Danson. (Capitol, Esplanade, Richmond Centre, Station Square, Eagle Ridge, Guildford, Willowbrook, Caprice Delta) Grumpy Old Men Ann-Margret attracted to either Jack Lemmon or Walter Mattbau? Yeah.

right. Not to be too grouchy, but this whole exercise feels phony and contrived. Mature. (Lougheed) The Hawk Helen Mirren (Prime Suspect) stars as a British housewife who fears her husband is a serial killer. Its pace is a little too TV to be completely compelling.

14 a years. (Caprice) I Love Trouble (Starts Wednesday at Capitol, Esplanade, Richmond Centre, Station Square, Eagle Ridge, Guildford, Varsity) In The Name Of The Father Both a compelling tale of justice gone wrong and a taut prison drama, with Daniel Day-Lewis as the hapless victim of British injustice. 14 Years.
