He does this with the assistance 0f a handsome Auburn sedan of the latest model. There is something al most uncanny beneath' the hood of this car which talks and provides in strumental music' It also sings. Of course it is all a trick but it is a very clever one and unusual as well. It provides one of the best vaudeville acts recently staged here. Irene Rubini and Terese Rosa are, two pretty and very capable girls who are well remembered for the very flrfe work they did here a previous oc casion.

These girls have youth, they have comedy ability and personality. "Tunes and Trimmings" is the title of their act. impersonates a young man and the other an old one. The old man Is a Rube. The title of the act is "The Rube and the City Chap.

It is a classic of its kind, a tense human drama which has mad a most power ful Impression whenever shown. This offering on the screen is dedi cated to the noble work of the Fraternal and Benevolent Order of Elks. The story was written by the managing editor of the Elks Magazine, it is a splendid bit of literary work.

senting to delighted audiences this week at the Strand Theater, The picture has been hailed on Broadway as "The Big Parade of the Navy," and Is remarkable for the un usually long list of stars In the cast and the spectacular scenes of naval warfare, which were secured through the United States Navy, the British Navy and the German Navy. The picture tells of the sacrifice made by a girl, who, at the instance of the United States secret service, becomes the companion of a man about town, somewhat in ill repute as an Idler, and in reality the chief of the German espionage in America. As a parallel, the experience of her brother and fiancee in the navy are shown with dramatic color. By the playing on his infatuation for her, the girl manages to securv evidence enough for the arrest of the German, and at the same time, outwits his attempt to Inform the German fleet of the sailing of the first con voy of troops. The sailing of the con voy, and the naval engagements of the combined American and British fleets comprises two of the absorbing highlights of the great film.

To inform citizens of Taylor as to actual condi ilons at the public swimming pool, which' has been out of service for some time, due to mine settlings, the borough council recently rauthorized the borough engineer to make a thorough Investigation. His report was submitted to the council at its session on Monday evening'and oppears herewith: LEGION POST PLANS FOR ANNUAL FIELD DAY TAYLOR, July 19. Plans are being furthered by members of the American Legion post, for their annual field day to be held at the new ball park on Labor Day. September 5. Very encouraging reports are being received from the different, committees and all indications point to the meet being one of the best yet held by the post.

Upon investigation I find that the Glen Alden Coal Company are.robbia a vein of coal underneath and aCjactnt to the swimming pool, that it will be at least ten months before a second mining is completed a safe lateral dis tance from the Swimming pool to allow repairs to be made without any further surface settlement and dam ages. I did not attempt to estimate tne entire cost ot tepairing the pool, at it is still settling and do not know the extent of damages that will be done. The bottom and sides from the middle of the pool to the southwesterly si'le has settled about two feet. Th sides have been cracked, crumbled anl pushed out of line, making them un stable nnd unsafe. Eight section men employed on the Lacka wanna Railroad, had a thrilling ex perience when their little car ran Into an open switch, struck an ob struction and threw the men about so many sticks of wood. They were hurled in all directions and several of them a considerable distance.
