Ruth Crosby Noble, 91, former trustee Ruth Crosby Noble, a former member of the Englewood Board of Education, died Sunday. The city resident was 91. Before retiring, she was an instructor for the American Museum of Natural History and was a chairwoman of its staff wives' group. She wrote the animal behavior book, "The Nature of the was past president of the Englewood Woman's Club and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Englewood. She was a graduate of Wellesley College in Massachusetts and was a member of the American Association of University Women. She was active in the United Nations. Surviving are two sons, Alan of Englewood and G. Kingsley of Portola Valley, Calif.; two sisters, Hilda Crosby Standish and Eleanor Crosby Stevens, both of West Hartford, Conn., and two grandchildren. Her husband, G. Kings-ley, died in 1940. A memorial service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, with arrangements by the Van Emburgh-Sneider Funeral Home, Ramsey. Donations to the American Museum of Natural History would be appreciated. Embry Friday, 103, cited by E. Orange Embry Friday of East Orange, formerly of Gaston County, N.C., died Monday. He was 103. Before retiring 19 years ago, he was a chef at the Sheraton Hotel, High Point, N.C. Mr. Friday was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church, High Point, and chairman emeritus of its Deacon Board. He was a member of the North Jersey Deacons Association. Earlier this year, he received the Black Heritage Award from the City of East Orange. The city had honored him on his 100th birthday, and his life history was submitted to The Congressional Record by Rep. Peter Rodino. Surviving are four daughters, Ada Hailstock of Paterson, Mildred Goings of Roselle Park, Katie Hawkins of East Orange, and Euna Starr of Washington, D.C.; two sons, Alyer in Virginia and Eugene of East Orange; 24 grand children, 51 great-grandchildren, and 20 great-great-grandchildren. His first wife, Cora Archer Friday, died in 1917, and his second wife, Maud Linberger Friday, died in 1966. Services and burial will be in High Point.
