Life's a beach and a whirlpool THE BECOffl, SUNDAY, MAY 3, 1967 T-5 eggs Florentine through baked chicken, sliced roast beef, and fet-tuccine, to wonderful, fruit-filled crepes. There Is also the usual assortment of breakfast meats, scrambled eggs, bagels and pastries, and a table filled with fresh fruits and juices. Included, of course, is unlimited coffee or tea and decent champagne. Summer-room rates at the Engleslde start at $99 a night for two for a room with no view and a coffee maker, and rise to $195 for four persons per night in a deluxe suite with kitchen facilities, an extra bedroom, and a whirlpool. The Enclave, 3851 Boardwalk, Atlantic City; (609) 347-0400.

This all-suite hotel three blocks down-beach from the Golden Nugget has amenities you don't find in most casino-hotels: a lobby where you can sit without buying a drink and comfortable furniture in even the lowliest guest room. Our room was decorated in soft grays with coral accents. Furnishings included an L-shaped couch, brass and glass tables, attractive lamps including a crystal chandelier over the dining table, and a Murphy bed. Rooms at The Enclave also have as standard equipment things you don't find in almost any hotel room: full-size refrigerators with ice makers, four-burner stoves with oven and broiler, double sinks, a dishwasher, clothes wash whirlpool adequate but not overly spacious was In a rather complicated lavatory area which involved a commode In a closet, a low-rise sink console, lots and lots of mirrors, and a frosted-glass window which opened, shutterlike into the living, dining, sleeping area. The common rooms at The Enclave include a handsome lounge with windows overlooking the ocean, an attractive first-floor dining room which opens onto a small patio and the Boardwalk, an indoor health club with exercise rooms, pool, and two large whirlpools, an outdoor pool, and a pretty lobby with comfortable furnishings.

The dining room, Caf6 Orleans, is open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner starting tomorrow. It was open weekends only when we made a midweek visit so we were unable to check out the food. One further amenity: The Enclave is quiet, with none of the hustle, bustle, and mindless music usually associated with Atlantic City hotels. The reason The Enclave is so different from the typical hotel is that it is a condominium property. All units are individually owned, with owners having the option of renting out their units when they're not using them.

Usually, about three quarters of the units are available at any given time. Summer rates at The Enclave Continued from preceding page ture window, there's a walkway just outside used by other guests to get to their rooms. Even If you can't get a room with a whirlpool, the Engleslde is worth a visit, Many of the rooms in the older part of the complex offer unobstructed ocean views from balconies equipped with comfort able outdoor furniture. In summer there's swimming in an outdoor pool as well as the ocean. There is a year-round health spa with exercise equipment along with a communal whirlpool.

You can even make an appointment for a massage. Clotheslines are provided for drying bathing suits and towels and there are a couple of gas grills if you feel a strong desire to barbecue. Units with kitchen equipment aren't designed for turning out a nine-course banquet, but the burner electric range top, small and sink along with dishes, pot, frying pan, toast- er, and utensils for four persons make whipping up breakfast or a light lunch a breeze. There's a well-stocked supermarket less than three blocks away. 1 Those who firmly believe that closest thing to work they should do while on vacation or a weekend getaway is filling the ice 'bucket can do their dining in the inn's Leeward Room, a full-serv-; ice dining room that offers attractive although not exotic meals at reasonable prices.

And the breakfast buffet is a real bargain at $6.95 and a champagne brunch at $9.95, with offerings I ranging from eggs Benedict or- YOUR The Atlantis advantage is that it provides a full range of casino hotel services and your choice of restaurants ranging from the upscale and rather elegant Jeanne's a red rose to every lady after dinner to the Boardwalk-level Garden State Caf6, valet service, entertainment, and gambling on premises. The hotel has a health club, indoor swimming pool, and large communal whirlpool as well. Summer rates at Atlantis range from $95 for room with bay view on a weekday, through $115 for an ocean view on a weekend, to the parlor at $145 a day. The rooms called parlors are decorated in traditional casino glitz. Ours sported purple upholstered couch and club chairs, glass-topped tables, a wet bar with small refrigerator, and a Murphy bed. The floor covering was a combination of rosy coral and dark-green carpeting with dashes of marble. The whirlpool that's why you've booked a room here, remember? is rather small, set in a peach-colored mirrored alcove, but it does offer an ocean view.
