"The thing to keep in mind is that this is what has to happen under British North America Act," he said. Saskatchewan constituencies will be reduced from 13 to 12 in the redistribution. After the 196560 changes, a province's constituencies drop. ped from 17. At one time there were 21 ridings, the highest of any Western province.

Other members of tlie beano- Ryles commission include Dr, Norman Ward of Saskatoon and Gordon Barnhart, clerk of the legislative assembly. Mr. Barnhart will also be a member of the new provincial electoral boundaries commis-Mon. Two other members of that commission have stilt to be named, one by the provinclot court of appeal and the other by the speaker of the legislative assembly. Mr.

Justice, Brownridgo and the other commissioners expect their first job will be to hire a staff and establish an office. Next, the commission will have to study a number of variations in the arrangement' of constituencies. The constituency population quota set by Ottawa Is 187 with 25 per cent above or below that mark. Thus northern constituencies might be expected to contain closer to the minimum 57,890 people while urban constituencies might reach as high as 90.484. According to the federal legislation under which the 10 commissions operate, commissioners may depart from the strict interpretation of the rules if geographic or other considerations make it cover most of the country today.

Long distance agencies will open at Tumor Lake July 7 and at Patuanak and Dillon July 28. The agencies will be connected by single sideband high frequency (IF) radio to a base station in Prince Albert. In addition, Sask Tel will extend access to the new work to any properly licenced person who would provide and maintain his own single-sideband fixed, mobile, portable, or aircraft radio at a charge of $5 monthly for each unit. Calls from these customer-owned radios to the base station at Prince Albert, or from one customer owned to another, would be charged at a rate of 25 cents for each minute, with a minimum of 3 minutes for each call. Calls of this type extending beyond Prince Albert to points on the telephone network would be charged the additional regular long distance rate.

At present, messages are passed on the department of natural resources radio system, which does not have access to the long distance network. Northern radio telephone service was introduced Dec. 1. 1971 when Sask Tel opened long distance agencies in the communities of La Loche and Stony Rapids with plans to open 30 other agencies progressively until the program has been completed late next year.
