Right persons were injured in motor accidents here yesterday. Five persons were hurt slightly as a car, descend ing the Morgan Highway yesterday morning, went over a bank. Those injured were: Frank Band, feh, 55, 614 Smith Street; his wife, Julia Bandish, 35; Stella Sadaski, 30, 3265 Greenwood Avenue, Minooka; George Skiba, 55, the driver, 1224 Leomis' Avenue; his wife, Kathryn Skiba, 50; and Robert Sadaski, 3265 Greenwood Avenue, Minooka. They were treated at the State Hospital. Three colored persons were hurt slightly early yesterday when their car crashed into a safety standard In the 300 block of Lackawanna Avenue.

The driver, a man describing himself as Dr. Norton W. Groves, 35, Hazel Street, Wiikes Barre, was arrested for driv, ing while intoxicated. Others Injured were Mrs. KArmui Johnson.

The bids on the three' jobs amount to aooin $80,000, whereas the total cost of the 12 projects would have been $300,000 Sweeney Brothers submitted the only bids at the meeting.

This firm bid on the Grove, Electric and Dela ware Street jobs. The bids follow: Delaware, Electric, $43, 780.55, and Grove, $28,630. Those on all paving contractors failed to bid are Potter, Ward, Pine, Elm, Jef ferson Avenue, Throop, Cooney and Willow Streets. Warren B. Hunt, resident engineer for the WPA, was in attendance as the bids were opened.

No action was taken on the estimates. Instead it was announced the bids must now be sent to Council intends to learn If new bids must be advertised or whether the improvements should be postponed on the nine for which bids were received. The paving jobs are to be financed by a 45 per cent grant from the government with the property owners being assessed for the balance. They will have five years to pay off the 55 per cent. It is understood that one reason, for the failure of contractors to bid on the twelve jobs is the difficulty of sell ins: paving bonds at this time.

UNEMPLOYED MEET At a recent meeting of the Dunmore Unemployed League, the relief question was discussed by Casper Morelli, recording secretary, and Joseph Gallo. The league has pledged Its support to the social security legislation aimed to help the unemployed and has voted not to support any candidate who does not have a platform dealing with the fare of the idle.

Plans were made for a spaghetti supper next month. The next meeting will be held May 8 at 115 Gibbons Street.
