THE LEADER-POST, REGINA, WOUNDED: Spr. Nicholas Gifko, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. Gifko, Avonlea, has been reported wounded in France.

He was born and educated at Avonlea, and later farmed with his father. Enlisting in February, 1943, he went overseas with the engineers in August of the same year. KILLED: Cpl. C. J.

(Chuck) 23, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Wirth, 1440 Forget street, has been reported killed in France Aug. 15.

Born Indian Head, he was educated at Benson school and worked in the Assiniboia club until his enlistment. He enlisted in June, 1941, and went overseas Aug. 1943. Surviving are his wife, the former Eileen Chalmers, and one son, Barry, in Regina, his parents and two sisters, Claire, and Betty Dale Wirth. One brother, Ernie, is with the R.C.N.V.R.

at Halifax. DIED: Gnr. Harry Thorpe, son of Mrs. Agnes Day, 1077 Cameron street, Regina, died of wounds in France according to word received by his mother. He was born in England, and came with the family to Canada in 1925.

He attended school at Rosa Glen, four miles west of Wapella. He enlisted at Regina in July, 1940, and arrived in England Christmas day that year. His father was killed in France in March, 1918. His stepfather and brother-in-law, Ptes. Day and Hussey, are both veterans of the First Great War and are now stationed in Regina, His sister, Cpl.

A. Day, C.W.A.C., is at Dundurn. He has a sister, Mrs. Hussey, at Wapella, a brother, Percy, at Clairmont, a sister, Mrs. Mooney, at Megan, a sister, Mrs.

Hood, at Miami, and a brother, Bob, at home. R.C.A.F. casualties OTTAWA, Sept. are the western names in the R.C.A.F. '6 982nd casualty list of the war.

David Speirs reported missing Pte. David Speirs of the S.S.R. is missing in action, according to word reaching his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Speirs, Shaunavon.

Born in Shaun unavon 25 years ago. Speirs enlisted b. 21, 1943, and trained in Calgary and. Maple Creek before going overseas in September, 1943. He has one brother, D.
