and Mrs. Ernest Foster and children, Earnes and Mary Beth were Sunday visitors at the home of the formers mother, Mrs. William Stafford of Iola. Mrs. Stafford Agee who is suffering with a cancer, remains about the same The home cf Mr.

and Mrs. Lafa Lane was completely destroyed by fire Friday morning. This is quite a big loss to the Lane family as they saved only part of the furniture and bedding, and lost most all their clothing. The family are now located on North Stanley street In the Will Wood property. Mrs.

Ella Lambert who is employed at. the Ewing home, is spending a few days at the home of her niece Mrs. Brownrigg while she is recuperating from an illness. When two quarrel, both are in wrong, for one should forbear. Football Letters Awarded at Chapel Program In High School Friday Afternoon.

The World Day of Prayer was observed here Friday afternoon at the Methodist church, all the churches of the town taking part in the program beginhirig at 2 oclock. Mrs. R. Brady of the Methodist church presided over ilte meeting. The regularly arranged program was followed here.

Special talks were given by Revl Nathan Copeland of ttie Christian church. Rev. L. H. McCormick, Wichita, who has been iif this community in Ihe interest of Christian education in the Presbyterian church and Rev.

R. M. Brady of the Methodist church. Special music for the service included a vocal ddet by Mrs. Brady and Mrs.

Carr and vocal solos by Elaine Talley. Roscoe Houk and Rev. McCormick. -v The chapel program at the high school Friday afternoon was of special Interest and much enjoyed by the many visitors present. The first four grades of the school supervised by Miss Florence Miller and Miss Ivis Chambiin.

Milton Gallaway of the fourth grade Introduced the program in keeping with Lincolns birthday. The football boys Were presented Their letters by Coach Green in closing the program. Mr. and Mrs. D.

O. Gifford went to Fredoriia Saturday afternoon ta visit over Sunday with theif son Carl Gifford arid family. Arthur Citppy and baby, Iola, came Saturday for a visit with Mrs. Cuppys parents. Mr.

and Mrs. John Day, other ieatives and friends." Miss Mar Kleyman who is attending school in Paola, spent the week-end here with her parents and friends. Mrs. Claud Taylor who has been ill several days with influenza was able to sit up a short time Saturday and it is now thought she will Soon be fully recovered. Gerald Doughty who is attending Pittsburg Teachers college, spent the week-end here with his parents, Mr.

and Mrs. W. Doughty, other relatives arid friends. Mr. Robert Eastwood who spent a part of last week here with his son Everette and family, and' his daughter, Mrs.

Frea Stafford and Mr. Stafford has returned to his home in Gas City. Mr. C. A.

Dickinson who has been quite seriously ill for several days is now reported improving. Mr. Dickinson lias not been in' the best of health for the past several months and has had frequent attacks similar to the one from which he is now recovering. Friends are glad to know Mr. J.

A. Cook is recovering from flu and able to be around again. Mrs. W. E.

North accompanied Rev. McCormick to Pleasanton Thursday afternoon for a visit with Rev. and Mrs. A. Peck.

Mr. McCormick attended to some business matters in connection with the Presbyterian church while there. Rev. Peck was pastor of the Presbyterian church here for nine years and has many friends here who are glad to hear from them at any time. Mrs.

George Troiribold and her young son Johnny, and Mrs. T. H. McLaughlin, all of Bronson were Friday guests of Mrs. J.

C. Norton and Mr. Norton. Trombold is a niece of Mr. Nortons.

3 Mrs. S. C. Knight who suffered a severe sprain of her left, wrist when she fell during the ice storm, is yet wearing a oast on her arm but it Is expected it can be removed in a few days. v.
