Sullivan, chairman of the San Bernardino County Chapter, National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis, has announced that a loan has been granted to the chapter to pay accumulated bills resulting from the 1952 polio epidemic. Joe F. Dowling, state representative for Southern California, delivered a check for $35,000 in person to Sullivan. The money has been dispersed and was used to pay bills for polio patients at San Bernardino County Hospital, where patients are isolated during the acute phase of the illness.

With Anonymous lip Leads Officers To Ranch Home Woman Was Paying $10 Per Week for Room and Board Charlotte Ury, missing 15-year-old daughter of Los Angeles mystic Mrs. Mary Kendall Curtis, was located late Saturday afternoon at a small mountain ranch near Anza, about 25 miles southwest of Palm Springs, by Riverside County sheriff's officers. The girl told the officers that her mother had taken her to the ranch Friday, June 5, and she had been there ever since, according to Riverside County Sheriff Joe W. Rice. She said she was not being held against her will.

Rice said. He said that the people with whom she was staying, George and Margaret Schmoll, apparently knew nothing of the giant search being made throughout at least three Southern California counties for their guest JAILED FOR CONTEMPT Meanwhile, the girl's mother is serving a five-day jail sentence in Los Angeles. Superior Judge Wil liam B. McKesson ordered the woman jailed for contempt after she refused to tell him whether Charlotte was dead or alive and where she was hidden. Mrs.

Curtis was originally booked on suspicion of murdering her daughter after probation authorities received a let ter from her that indicated the girl was dead and the body hidden on the desert. Charlotte was discovered living on the mountain ranch by Sgt. Gene Ullrich, in charge of the Hemet substation of Sheriff Rice, and In vestigator Howard Greene after the two received an anonymous tip, according to Rice. The girl told the officers her mother had taken her to the ranch the same day she took her from the La Verne School For Girls on a pretext of buying her a pair of ballet dancing shoes. PAID $10 PER WEEK The Schmolls said the girl's mother had paid them 510 a week for room and board for the girl and had told them not to permit her to wander away from the ranch.

They said they did not know anyone was looking for the girl because their home is not supplied with electricity and the battery on their radio set was dead. Deputy Thomas E. Mooney of the Twentynine Palms substation of Sheriff Eugene L. Mueller Saturday searched religious cult camps in the desert areas of San Bernardino County in a vain attempt to find the missing girl. Police also checked Catalina Island hotels and residences after a Long Beach trav el bureau manager told them a girl answering Charlotte's description inquired about reservations for the island boat.

A. Nicholas and the Board of Supervisors. The tentative budget, Nicholas said, is only $40,430 more than the 1952-53 budget, which included 5350, 000 in federal secondary aid. At the same time, the County is faced with road deficiencies amounting to 59,389,000.

The actual revenue which the de partment operates on is largely from the highway users' tax, placed at 51,648,554 for the next fiscal year. This is roughly 574,000 more than the present fiscal year's income from that source. Only other two sources of income in the past have been federal forestry funds and traffic fines. Fed eral money for secondary aid is not considered as income, as it must be matched by a percentage (Continued on Page 33, Column 3) Chapter and two from Riverside Chapter.
