Believe it or not, you can really taste the banana flavor in this tender, moist cake created by one of Jtfew York's famous pastry chefs. To make one 10-inch-square layer, cream together cup butter with l-t cups sugar until light and fluffy. Add 2 unbeaten egg yolks and beat thoroughly. Dissolve 1 teaspoon soda in 5 tablespoons buttermilk and add to the above along with 1 scant cup crushed bananas.

Sift 2 cups cake flour twice, adding 1 teaspoon baking powder on the second sifting. Add 'i cup chopped nuts to the flour and stir into cake batter. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla and the 2 egg whites stiffly beaten. Pour into a greased and lined 10-inch-square cake pan and bake in 350 F. oven for 40 to 50 minutes or until cake tester comes out clean.

Let cool and frost with Maple Frosting. MAPLE FROSTING: Cream 2 tablespoons butter, sift 1 lb. box confectioners sugar and cream into butter. Add 1 teaspoon maple flavor and sufficient cream to make of good spreading consistency. Arrange pecan halves on top.

CLIMAX TO WEEK The day will climax Casa Colina Week, during which many of the clubs have held benefits to aid the Home's work of rehabilitating crippled children. The week has become an annual event at Casa Colina.

Casa Colina opened its doors in 1938 after two years of organization work. Two of the original board nfembers Mrs. Smith and C. A. Steadman of Pomona, are still on the board'.
