Pe mission to sell oil rights below depth of 500 feet under the Sunn side cemetery, In the heart of th great Signal Hill oil field near Lon! Beach, is asked in a superior cou petition filed by the Long Beac Cemetary Association. The petition says neighboring wells, drilled slantwise are eve now draining oil from beneath th cemetary plot, and It was felt th cemeiary association snouia ODtali leagl right to negoiate for sale such oil and use the profits maintain the cemetery.

Oil sprays over tombstones blighting shrubbery, grass am flowers, and causes the cemeter heavy additional expenses in main tenance, said the petition. The cemetery existed for 25 year before oil was discovered on Signa Hill in the world war days. Sine then it has been hemmed in by a forest of derricks. (By Associated Press) RAVENNA, April 4. Jack, a 14 year old Collie dog who death eight years ago, is wearing a Carnegie medal for bravery.

In October, 1926, Jack saved Nor-1 ma Warner, and crippled himself for life. A report of his deed wag made at the time to the Carnegie Institute and his medal arrived re cently. The Warner family resided at Fresno, when Jack filled the hero role. The dog was accompanying the girl to school when an auto-ist one day swerved to avoid hitting another car and drove toward the pair. The dog grabbed Norma by the dress and threw her out of the car's path.

The dog was run over and injured. Tapeworms sometimes grow to a length of 80 feet; each segment contains a complete reproductive system.
