1 Barstow Constable Defendant in Suit Constable Ed Harris of Barstow is the defendant in a $5,000 damage suit which will be tried in Superior Judge C. L. Allison's court Tues-day morning. Myrtle Inez Rouse and J. C.

Rouse are plaintiffs in the action. They charged that on April 20, 1931, the Barstow constable levied an attachment against Rouse in a Downey justice court action in Los Angeles county, when Rouse was sued by the Lancaster Feed Supply Co. The constable seized a hay baler as directed by the Lancaster firm, but Myrtle Inez Rouse now claims the baler as her own, separate property in which she fays J. C. Rouse holds no interest.

Because of the seizure of the hay barer, hay crops were ruined, to the plaintiffs' damage in the sum of $5,000, they assert. Attorney J. R. LeGallez of San Bernardino represents the Rouses, and Chief Deputy District Attorney James L. King will represent Constable Harris.

Attention Is Turned to Several Rich Ledges Following Edict Issued by Roosevelt (Special Staff Correspondence) VICTORVILLE, Dec.

23 Silver's increase in value, caused by a recent order of the President, has given much encouragement to miners in this vicinity who have silver Preparations are being made to work a number of mines which have been Idle for years. There are extensive ledges rich in silver, often associated with lead, which will be developed at once. Some of the deposits are already developed and have been worked extensively when silver commanded a better price. There are several rich silver lodes in the mountains near Lucerne valley and extensive bodies of silver ore north of and in the Adelanto mountains. This group of hills is sometimes designated as the Shadow mountains, but there are several other ranges with the same appella tion.

At any rate the sliver ores there are very rich and of such magnitude that the mountains north of Adelanto may become one of the leading producers of the white metal. There is also renewed activity at Osdlck in the Rand district and at Calico, where some of the world's famous silver mines once were operated. Outfitting is going on for ac tive work and development in a number of Mojave locations. Silver mine owners regard it as only logi cal that the price of silver should rise commensurately with that of gold, wheat or cotton. The new values announced for silver has a far reaching effect in the Mojave region and will give employment to hundreds of people as soon as pre liminaries can be arranged and equipment brought to some of the mines.

HI CLOSE (Continued from Page Eleven) stamps should be included for each set of pictures desired, to cover return postage. There still remains one week in which to play the game. It re quires but an hour or so to solve the easy clew-words. Entries will be accepted up to midnight, Dec. 30, or they may be mailed to show a postmark not later than that hour and date.

Any player, in checking over the clew-word coupons, may find that a coupon is missing here and there. To supply the deficiency, and make the set complete, as required by the rules, steps should be taken at once to secure duplicate coupons from The Sun, which are free. Remember, only complete sets of coupons can be entered for prize consideration. Another important point to watch is that any clew-word solution you have written down on a coupon, if showing signs of alteration, will be classed as an error, as the rules specify. Look over all the solutions you have written down, see that there are no erasures or changes and if there are, simply obtain reprints of such coupons and write your solutions anew.

Extra sets of back pictures and coupons may be obtained in cases where other members of the family wish to submit entries. To enter class in which the largest cash prizes are to be given ranging up to $200, requires only one new three months' subscription to The Sun. Players should send their subscription, together with remittance, in the same envelope or package that contains their answers. The complete set of coupons may be turned In in person at the main office of The Sun, or mailed to Detective Blynker Byrnes, in care of this newspaper, to show a postmark not later than midnight, Dec. 30, 1933.

4 Chautemps Budget Program Approved (By Associated Press) PARIS, Dec. 24 (Sunday). Pre mier Camille Chautemps' budget balancing program to safeguard the franc was passed early today in par liament over the stormy protest of taxpayers and civil government employes at the end of a year of political fighting which has been fatal to three cabinets. The senate finally adopted, 196 against 46, Chautemps' measures cutting the pay of jobholders and increasing taxes, after the chamber had previously adopted the measure, 286 against 199. Certain reservations, however, were made in the senate.

The budget balancing measures were estimated to yield a total of 4.467,000,000 francs (more than Doll Baby' Gaining In Struggle to Live HOQUIAM, Dec. 23.
