Every once in a bile we hear some complaint because the Driving Park Association makes some charge for the use of its grounds or reserves the right to sell privileges when it lets the grounds free. Did those who make this complaint ever stop to figure out just how much money the Association gets out of its grounds every year? Do they know that not a cent ot dividend was ever divided among the stockholders? Do they know that an assessment has been levied against the stock every year to pay interest or taxes or improvements? Do they know that a good share of the stock, if not all of it, could be bought for less than a quarter of what it cost? The facts are that the gentlemen who went down in their pockets and bought that park did so out of pure public spirit. They knew they would never make a dollar out of it, "but they wanted to save, for the good of the town, the last available grove there was along the river. We know all these things because we have paid 50 or CO of our own good hard dollars to find out. And that is the reason we want to go ofl somewhere and sit down when we hear people who never invested a dollar ni their lives "for the good of the complain about the "greediness" of the Driving Park Association.

J. T. Tredway, of Elm, has named his homestead "The Alien Center Stock Farm" and will give special attention to breeding Jersey cattle and Duroc-Jersey swine. And instead of getting his stationery by the dime's worth he came to the Register office and ordered a large quantity of letter heads and envelopes with the name of his farm and his business printed on them. There are a good many farmers in Allen county now who have given names to their farms and who use printed letter heads "just like a business man." We are glad to see it.

When a farmer gives a name to his homo it is a sign that he is proud of it, and a man who is proud of his home is mig hty apt to keep it looking nice and thrifty. And when he prints that name on his stationery it is a sign that he is not ashamed of his calling, besides being a great convenience to him and all his correspondents. It is an old fad ot the Register that every farm should have a name, and that this name together with the name of the owner, should be painted on a big sign over the main entrance. We hope to see it in Allen county yet before we die. Ben.

A number of young ladies, learning of the absence of Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Northrup took advantage the other evening of the delenseless condition in which this absence left Lute Northrup and Walter Hull and organized a serenading party against them.

The boys had been warned, however, and so they were able before the musical attack had become very danger ous, to divert the enemy and save themselves by a generous and judi cious administration ot ice cream, cake and other luxuries.
