The Art of Carle Hessay. He died on New Year's Eve 1978, in Spuzzum, leaving one canvas, Break of Day, drying in his studio. Apparently Hessay wasn't keen about using packaged materials. Instead he collected minerals and resin while making rounds as a prospector, from which he prepared his own watercolor pigments and varnishes.
