WOKAL FUNERAL A HOME "Service to the Living" 241 FOCA A Manager LOS ANGELES (UPI) Gregor Piatigorsky, 73, cellist, teacher, and giant among classical musicians of the 20th century, died Friday. The Russian-born Piatigorsky ranked with violinist Jascha Heifetz a close friend and frequent accompanist Artur Rubinstein, and fellow cellist Pablo Casals among the great modern performers of classical music. A noted art collector, he owned works by Degas, Chagall, Monet, and Toulouse-Lautrec.

He died in his Frank Lloyd Wright-designed home in Brentwood, where he had lived with his wife Jacqueline, daughter of Baron Edouard de Rothschild of the aristocratic European banking family. Not cause was given for his death, announced by the University of Southern California, where he had taught since 1962. Funeral services will be private, Adolph Neumann PATERSON Veterans of Foreign Wars services for Adolph W. Neumann will be at 8 in the Frech Funeral Home, 161 Washington Dumont. Mr.

Neumann, of 559 E. 32nd died Friday in Saddle Brook General Hospital. He was 80. He moved to Paterson three years where he ago had from lived morenont, 50 years. He retired five years ago as a gardener for the White Beeches Country Club of Haworth.

Mr. Neumann was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of General George S. Greene Post 761 VFW.

Surviving are his daughter, Jeanette Verge of Secaucus; seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. His wife, Victoria, died in 1969. Services will be tomorrow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.

Friends may call today from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Frank A. Ryder DUMONT Frank A. Ry.der, 59, died Thursday at the Veteran's Administration Hospital, East Orange. He was born in New York City and lived in Astoria, N.Y., before moving to Dumont in 1948.

Mr. Ryder was an appliance salesman. He was an Army veteran of World War IL. Surviving are his wife, the former Virginia Synan; three sons, Frank Jr. of Dumont, Rubin R.

of Englewood, and Frederick A. of San Francisco; and one sister, Dorothy Brown of Woodcliff Lake. Mass will be tomorrow at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's R.C.

Matilde Brunetto BLOOMFIELD Matilde Brunetto, 85, died Thursday in Park Manor Nursing Horne, Bloomfield. Mrs. Brunetto was born in Lacedonia, Italy, and lived in Montclair before moving to Bloomfield 18 years ago. She was a member of Anita Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, the Women's Auxiliary of the Silver Lake Baptist Church in Belleville. Surviving are three sons, Anthony of Bloomfield, Ernest of Phoenix, and Frank of Ridgewood; a brother, Pat Caggiano, and a sister, Grace Caggiano, both of Bloomfield; and five grandchildren.

Her husband, Nicholas, died in 1951. Services will be tomorrow at the Van Tassel Funeral Home, 337 Belleville field. Burial will be in Bloomfield Cemetery. Friends may visit today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Anna Wiedbrecht PALISADES PARK Anna Wiedbrecht, a Palisades Park resident for the last 32 years, died Thursday at the Allendale Nursing Home, Allendale.

Mrs. Wiedbrecht was born in Union City, and lived in Ridgefield before moving to Palisades Park. She was a parishioner of St. Michael's R.C. Church.

Surviving 'are a daughter, Corinne Neubert of Upper Sad- but the university will hold a public memorial service Thursday. Piatigorsky was for many years among the most active musicians, with more than 1,000 recitals and 400 appearances as soloist with major orchestras between 1929 and the early 1960s. His tall, stately form straddling a 261-year-old Stradivarius cello was for decades a fixture in appearances with Leopold Stokowski's New York Philharmonic and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. A critic wrote, "If you have ever been present when he draws out, bow stroke by bow stroke, those deep, throbbing tones of rich emotional expression, you would understand why music is the queen of the arts." Born in Ekaterinoslav now Dnepropetrovsk Russia in 1903, he wrote in his autobiography, "Cellist," that his earliest memories included hiding in the die River, three children. "Her husband, grandward, died five years ago and a son, Warren, died in 1945.

Mass will be celebrated tomorrow at 10 a.m. at St. Michael's Church. Burial will be private. Friends may visit at the Blackley Funeral Home, 809 Broad Ridgefield tonight from 7 to 9.

Josephine Hummel BERGENFIELD Josephine Hummel, 77, died Thursday in her home here. Mrs. Hummel was born in New York City, and had lived in Bergenfield since 1949. She had owned and operated the Howard Millinery Shop until her retirement in 1957. Surviving are a son, Howard J.

of Bergenfield; a brother, Paul Cimerre of New York City; and a sister, Edna Cimerre of Bergenfield. Her husband, Howard, died in 1955. Mass will be celebrated tomorrow at 9 a.m. in St. John's R.C.

Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Long Island City, N.Y. Friends may visit at Riewerts Memorial Home, 187 S. Washington today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Paul Frasco NORWOOD Paul Frasco, former Board of Health and plumbing inspector, died Thursday at Bergen Pines County Hospital, Paramus.

He was 72. A retired plumber, Mr. Frasco belonged to Plumber's Union Local 326. He was a lifelong resident of Norwood. Surviving are his wife, Emily; a daughter, Dolores; four sons, Thomas, Robert, Paul, and Martin; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Mass will be tomorrow at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, Norwood. Burial will be in Rockland Cemetery, Sparkill, N.Y. Friends may call today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

at the Moritz Funeral Home, 348 Closter Dock Road, Closter. Elizabeth A. Post RIDGEWOOD Elizabeth A. Post, 42, 546 Franklin Turnpike, died yesterday in Valley Hospital, Ridgewood. Born in Paterson, she had lived in Ridgewood since 1967.

She also had lived in Wayne. Mrs. Post is survived by herhusband, Charles; a daughter, Patricia, and a son, Charles both at home; two sisters, Ida Andolina of Haledon and Mary Westdyke of Passaic; and two brothers, Frank Cassell of West Milford and William Hayes of Denville. Services are scheduled today at 2:30 p.m. in the C.C.

Van Emburgh Funeral Home, 306 E. Ridgewood Ave. Burial will be private. Thomas Note RUTHERFORD Thomas Note, 88, died Friday at Hackensack Hospital. Born in Paterson, Mr.

Note had lived in Rutherford 25 years. Before, retirement in 1968, he was an engineer. He was a member of the Catholic War Veterans. Mr. Note is survived by his wife, the former Florence Seymour; three sons, Thomas Jr.

of Wayne, William of Middletown, and Alan of Rutherford; a sister, Mary Note of Paterson, and nine grandchildren. Memorial mass will be in Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Lyndhurst, tomorrow at noon. Contributions may be made to St. Boniface R.C.

He escaped from Communist Russia in 1921, going first to Warsaw and Berlin before coming to America in 1929.

Only six months ago, playing at ceremonies dedicating the school of gerontology study of at USC, he was asked his own philosophy on growing older and approaching death. "It's terribly simple," he replied. about "Don't waste too much time thinking it." Gregor Piatigorsky Archie Struhl TEANECK Archie Struhl, president of Morris Struhl Inc. of Allendale, died Thursday in Englewood Hospital. He was 66.

Mr. Struhl was born in Jersey City and moved to Teaneck in 1949. He had worked in the family business for 50 years. He was past president of the Teaneck Jewish Community Center, and was a member of. its Men's Club.

He was a member of Wakefield Rising Star Masonic Lodge 211, and Salaam Temple, Shriners of Livingston. He was former vice-president of the Jewish Hospital and Rehabilitation Center, Jersey City; chairman of the Teaneck Jewish Memorial Association, and was an active volunteer for Yeshiva of Hudson County, the United Jewish Appeal, and Bonds for Israel. Surviving are his wife, the former Betty Sarden; three sons, Paul, Stuart, and Morton, and a daughter, Marcia, all at home; and a sister, Belle Kroll. She was a member of the Loyal League and the Saddie River Valley Club, a pianist for the dancing classes of the Wandell School in Saddle River, and was organist and a member of the Zion Lutheran Church choir.

Surviving are her husband, Roy: a daughter, Dael Eakin of Sherwood, a sister, Dorothy Horton of Allendale; and four grandchildren. Services are scheduled for 4 p.m. today at Van EmburghSneider Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Ramsey. Burial will be tomorrow at 10 a.m. in Laurel Grove Memorial Cemetery, Totowa.

Peter A. McGuire PARAMUS Peter A. McGuire, 85, a retired electrical contractor, died Friday in his home. Mr. McGuire was born in Brooklyn and lived in Queens before moving to Paramus six years ago.

He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Visitation R.C. Church. Surviving are eight daughters, Frances E. McGuire of Paramus, Virginia Asip of New York, Sister Cora Marie McGuire of Pennsylvania, Marjorie Shovlin of Hillsdale, Sister Grace Mary McGuire in Mississippi, Marilynn Meyers in California, Bernadette McGuire of Paramus, Elaine Coyne in Michigan; three sons, Peter A. in California, James P.

and Alfred, both in Michigan; and 31 grandchildren. His wife, Frances E. Hauser McGuire, died in 1972. Mass will be celebrated to.morrow at 10 a.m. in the church.

Shakerley was born in Edgewater. He was a Ridgefield Park resident for 50 years before moving to Tacoma, in 1961. He had lived in Kinderhook six months. He retired in 1960 as a truck driver for Armour Company. Surviving are his wife, the former Anna Rosenfeld; three sons, Edward of Rainbow Lakes, Richard of Kinderhook, and Harold of Seattle; a daughter, Josephine McCann of Dumont; a sister, Sarah Lally of Ridgefield Park; eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Chapman, former Park Ridge resident, died Friday in Cornwall Hospital. He was 50. Mr. Chapman was born in Massachusetts. He was a self-employed carpenter in the construction business.

He was a veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post 153 of Park Ridge. Surviving are his wife, Margaret; a daughter, Toni, and a stepson, Cecil Flanders, both at home; his mother, Wilhelmina, in Maine; two brothers, Calvin and Robert; and four sisters, Jeanette, Ann, Ruth, and Toni. Thomas R.C. Church in Decatur. Surviving are a son, Robert C. of Waldwick; a daughter, Louanne Keck of Washington, a brother, George, of Ramsey, two sisters, Ann Kinney and Agnes Rakers, both of Oconee; and seven grandchildren. His wife, the former Mildred Shoemaker, died in 1955.

Zizzo RIDGEFIELD PARK Carmela A. Zizzo died Friday in Pascack Valley Hospital, Westwood. She was 77. Mrs. Zizzo, the former Carmela Alaimo, was born in Villafrati, Italy.

She came to the United States in 1909. She was a 52-year resident of Ridgefield Park. She was a member of the Lady Foresters of America, Star of Unity Chapter of Ridgefield Park. She also was a member of the Rosary Society of St. Francis R.C.

Church. Surviving are two daughters, Cira Kennedy and Constance Muscietta, both of Emerson; a son, Joseph of Ridgewood; 13 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Her husband, Salvatore, died in 1958. Mass will be tomorrow at 10 a.m. in St.

Salvador Santiago HACKENSACK Salvador Santiago, 79, died Thursday in his home. Born in Cabitti, Philippines, Mr. Santiago came to the United States in 1917. He lived in New York most of his life. He moved to Paramus three years ago and to Hackensack a month ago.

Before his retirement 14. years ago, he worked for the Pullman Railroad Co. in New York. He was a Navy veteran of both World War I and II. Mr.

Santiago is survived by his wife, Eufrocina; three daughters, Zenaida Payumo of Paramus and Purifacion Quizon and Abeline Velencia, both in the Philippines; a son, Remeo Maano, and a brother, Dominador Bernanl, both in the Philippines. He was a maintenance worker for 18 years with Curtis Wright Co. of Wood-Ridge. Before that he delivered coal, ice, and wood to families in the MaywoodHackensack area. He was a member of St. Joseph's R.C.

Church in Hackensack. He is survived by his wife, Victoria; four sons, Edward of Louisville, Frank of Colonia, Joseph of Paramus, and Chester of Miami; three sisters in Poland; a brother in Argentina, and 16 grandchildren. A son, Emil, died in 1954. Mass will be tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. in St.

John Schutzler EDGEWATER American Legion services for John Schutzler will be tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the Frech Funeral Home, 161 Washington Dumont. Mr. Schutzler, of 2 Columbia died Thursday in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Coatesville, Pa. He was 82.

He was born in Manhattan. He had lived in Edgewater 60 years. Mr. Schutzler retired five years ago from the Edgewater Road Department, where he had worked 10 years. Prior to that, he was a conductor for 15 years with the Fifth Avenue Motor Coach Company in New York.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War I. He was a member of Farrell Huber Post 116, American Legion. Surviving are his wife, Gertrude; a son, Dr. Arthur Peterson of Haverford, a sister, Minnie Price of New York, and three grandchildren.

Service will be tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. Friends may call today from 3 to.5 and 7 to 9 p.m..
