Channel 9 To Broadcast Public Hearing On 1-64 On Tuesday evening, April 30 public television station, WSWP TV, Channel, 9, Beckley wil broadcast complete unabridgei coverage of the controversial I 64 and Corridor public hear ings. The hearings, to be held ai Shady Spring High School al 7 p.m., will be taped by the Methodists Give $11,619 To IVesfeyon Fund The Beckley district of the United Methodist Church and Virginia United Channel 9 staff and broadcast at 9 p.m. later that, same day. The public hearing, conducted by the West Virginia Department of Highways a moderated by Beckley Mayor John H. McCulloch, will provide an input from area residents regarding the routing of proposed interstate highway.

The hearing will also include discussion of the tentative schedules for right-of-way, acquisition, construction and relocation assistance. In addition to a McCulloch, scheduled guests the West Methodist Conference have donated $11,619 to West Virginia Wesleyan College for the school scholarship fund. Rev. Marvan Frame, district superintendent of the Beckley district, presented the college with a $10,000 scholarship en dowment gift, and Rev. Ross M.

Evans, president of the board of education of the West Virginia United Methodist Conference, forwarded a $1,619 check to the college to assist its scholarship program. Mr. Frame explained that the Beckley district received the $10,000 as reimbursement for land and church buildings condemned when additional water conservation projects were developed by the Corps of Engineers. There will be no restrictions on the annual scholarship, but preference will be given to a student from the Beckley Mr. Frame said.

The money should produce about S500 a year, he explained, adding that it is hoped other districts in the conference will establish similar funds for students from their district. Mr. Evans, who is pastor of the Beckley United Methodist Temple, said the $1,619 was received as the result of a sale of property belonging to the conference board of educatir.n.
