"Albie" Booth, star of the Yale football team ant the outstanding back of the year, took his usual leading role in the mystery tonight whether he will play in uiav in oaiui' day's game against Princeton. Booth, battered in the hard 13-13 Maryland game last Saturday, and bruised again this week in practice, was taken to the university infirmary at 11 a.

m. today. Publicity Director Was Misinformed At 5 p. m. Paul Barnett, director of publicity for the university, announced that Booth would not play in Saturday's game.

At 6, Booth was visited in the infirmary by newspapermen. "So you're not going to play," they suggested. "Says who?" asked Booth. "I am going to play. I'm not supposed to talk about it, but I'm O.K.

It's nothing serious. I'll be in there." "Booth's disagreement with the announcement sent investigators to Head Coach Mai Stevens. He would say nothing at all. Declaration Is Qualified Then Barnett was approached again. "Well," Barnett qualified, "he is in no condition to play, but he will be In uniform.

We might put him in for a drop kick." The announcement caused tremendous excitement here, and betting odds on the game shifted im-nedlately. 1 Volante, English Puncher, Wins Battles to Draw With Carlton (By Associated Press) MADISON SQUARE GARDEN, New Nov. 15. Scoring two touchdowns in the second quarter, Banning high school beat a Beaumont eleven in a hard fought gridiron fracas, 12 to 0, this afternoon at Beaumont. With the exception of the fatal uncond quarter, when Banning uncorked several long passes, the trams fought on an even baais.

and neither could consistently penetrate the other's line. In tho second quarter Banning arwt Vir ilinf rP noyuna it Into tho shadow of Beaumont's stubbornly defended goal line. The Banningites then bucked the oval over in three tries. Lfiter in the quarter they repeated 'the process in almost identical manner. This was tho last game of the season, in the Riverside county leapue for the Banning team.

Beaumont will finish the season next week at Hemet. Tho three teams are at tho top of tho league at present. The Banning team has not lost a game in the league by actual but; it is said that the first game played In Perrls will probably have to bo forfeited to that high school, although Banning won by a 25-to-6 score. The reason lies in a misunderstanding over scholarship rules. Bud Taylor Decisions Zorilla, Vince Dundee Beats Sullivan (Hy United Press) CHICAGO, Nov.

15. Bud Taylor, tho Terre Haute Terror, continued his comeback efforts toward the featherweight title tonight by decisively outpointing Santiago Zorilla, the San Bias Indian, in 10 fast rounds. Taylor might havo been given every round, although the first could have been called a draw. He simply used a loft hook which continually found its mark on tho Indian's jaw and Btomach. Vlnce Dundee, who aspires to the welterweight championship onco held by his brother, Joo, stepped further up tho 147-pound ladder Jtwhen he beat Mi Sullivan, the St.

Minnesota will have to overcome an inferiority complex which Go pher teams have had in the past to beat the Wolverines, despite the fact that on performance the north ern team Is much superior. At Urbana, Chicago tackles nols in a game in which a score for the Maroons probably would mean success for Coach Stagg. Illinois outclasses the Chicago eleven on paper In every department and should win easily.

Northwestern Has Opportunity For Tie Northwestern, still with a chance to tie for the title, meets the In diana Hoosiers at Evanston. The iioosiers surprised everyone some time ago by holding Ohio State to a tie and have had two weeks rest for this game. If they win the result will be another big surprise. Due to lack of players, Coach A. F. Schaefer has canceled his game with the Compton Tarters and will begin practice next week in preparation for the last conference game with Riverside. While the Redskins are taking it easy three other games will be in session.

Upsets are expected by conference followers which may snatch the banner from the leading Pasadena Eulldogs, now at the top of the conference. Pasadena will meet tho strong Chaffey Panthers in a game that will doubtlessly settle the big argument In progress for the last five weeks over which team shall be the champions at the end of the season. Coach Frank Baker's squad has improved a great deal since the opening of the conference, at which time they took a 6-0 lacing at hs hands of Santa Ana. Thompson, Osborne, Wright, Capt Rhine, and Strutt are the boys on the Bulldog team who have been tramping rough shod over their opponents in their recent games. However, if Chaffey recovers from the slump they have been in for tho last three weeks, Coach Baker's power plays may be of no avail.

Riverside will tako a crack at the powerful Fullerton team tomorrow, while Santa Ana Journeys to Long Beach. The Santa Ana-Long Beach affair should be a worth Bamo as both teams are reputed to bo In top notch and plenty capable of playing footbal that Is easy to look at. In tho final quarter the Teachers started another march down the field from the 31-yard line and after completing five first downs pushed the oval across while Clemore, who had failed to convert on his first attempt, made good on the second opportunity. The Redlands Bulldogs were twice within scoring distance but failed. Late in tho second half Hank Bei-den's work, with the assistance of his mates, had carried the ball to the Santa Barbara 3-yard marker, but here Beiden's last thrust for yardage failed and the Teachers took the oval.
