Seerley Reid, chief of the federal agency's visual education branch, said films could be used for certain routine teaching tasks and take the pressure off the teachers now in the schools. He noted that some educators oppose use of films for such work and said: "It's time you did a little soul- searching," he said; "If the proper films are available, why not lot the audio-visual media teach routine aspects of learning? "What we need is a willingness to experiment and erase blocked minds for the betterment of the pupils and the teaching profession." Reid told some 250 educators at an audio-visual conference at the University of Wisconsin that many teachers quit their jobs because of the routine and paper work involved.
