6 Donations Made By Follansbee- Glub FOLLANSBEE Donation to various organizations were made at the November meeting of the Follansbee Junior Woman's Club held in the Presbyterian Church Hall. Mrs. Mel Clark presided for the business session. The donations were made to the Follansbee Yuletide Christmas party; the Scholarship Loan Fund; the Penny Art Fund; the Pan American Scholarship Loan Fund; the TB and Health Association and the Follansbee Community Chest. Mrs.

Ralph Barone of Weirton, state membership chairman and Project Concern Committee chairman for the Upper Ohio Valley, was a guest. She reported on the committee's activities. Mrs. Barone- also announced that Mrs. Frank Cuomo Jr.

of the Follansbee club, was elected treasurer of the Project Concern Committee. Mrs. Cuomo, chairman of International affairs and clubs, reported that a UNICEF program was taught at the Hooverson Heights Elementary Grade School. Teachers participating in the program were Dean Fleming, Mrs. Porter Martin and Mrs.

James Lyie. The Juniorettes sponsored by Mrs. Cuomo and Mrs. Donald Layburn, are a "Penny A Meal" campaign. Mrs.

Cuomo also asked members to have each person in their family deposit a penny per meal for one month. All proceeds will go to the Project Concern. Members brought cookies for the Senior Citizen's Open House. They also brought canned goods for the Thanksgiving basket which will be given to a needy family. The Home Life committee, headed by Mrs.

Robert Carroll, was in charge of the project. Miss Christine McDwmont, fine arts committee chairman, announced that an art contest for high school seniors will he held. The contest is being sponsored by the Hallmark Co. and the award is a partial scholarship to a West Virginia school. The deadline for the contest is March 15,1970.

Members were aksed to donate toys to the kindergarten. Mrs. John Testa, education committee chairman is in charge. Mrs. Thomas Andreozzi, state project chairman, informed the club of the progress in refurbishing the Senior Citizens Hall.

Several kitchen items were donated by the club to the Senior Citizens. The committee is holding a ticket sale for a baby doll which is on display in the Monongahela Power Co. window. The doll and outfits were made by Miss Paula Wright. Mrs.

John Testa, social committee chairman, announced the Christinas party for club members will be held Thursday, Dec. 11, in DeStefanos Spaghetti House. Reservations must be made by Dec. 5. A gift exchange will also be held at that time.

Mrs. Testa also announced that members of the Woman's Study Club, which sponsors the Junior Woman's Club, will be the guests at the Dec. 18 meeting. Committee chairmen will prepare all reports from March to December for that meeting. Other reports were given by Mrs.

Clark and Mrs. Gina Secrist, ways and means committee chairman. Mrs. Albert Broccolini was introduced as a new member. Hostesses were Miss Mc- Darmont, Mrs.

Frank Ross and Mrs. Secrist. Women in The TIMES Edited by Connie Sherensky Weirton Times, Wednesday, November 26, 1969 Ladies Society flans Annual Vasilopeta Tea Plans were made at a meeting of the Greek Ladles Phlloptochos Society to hold the annual Vasilopeia Tea and Program. The meeting was held in the Hellenic Memorial Hall on West Street with Mrs. Steve Statheros, vice president, presiding.

The Vasilopeta event will be held Sunday, Jan. 11, immediately following church services. Miss Mary Ann Mastromichalis, who teaches the Greek Language School, will be in charge of the program. A report on the annual Grecian dinner held by the society was given by Mrs. James Gallias and Mrs.

Alex Bellas, general chairmen of the affair, and Mrs. Thomas Koumaros, ticket chairman. It was announced that the society will send clothing to the Guadalupe Home for Boys in California. Christmas baskets will be donated to" two needy families in Weirton. The annual gift exchange will be held Wednesday, Dec.

3. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Mike Latousakis, Mrs. Alex Stakias and Mrs. Emmanuel Loucas.

The money was derived from card Age Members parties held by the review. Games were played during the social hours. Prizewinners were Mrs. John Korzi, Mrs. Michael Trombetti and Mrs. Paul Duffy.

Camp Fire Girls Elect Officers Officers were elected at a special meeting of the Camp iFire Girls Group 41 of the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church. Maria Volakis was named president; Joann Tsekouras, vice president; Becky Thomas, secretary; Dorothy Pandelios. treasurer, and Sophia Natsls, scribe. The unit leaders for the group are Mrs. Spiro Volakis, Mrs.

TURKEY WITH RICE-SHRIMP STUFFING 1 cup chopped green pepper 1 cup chopped onion 2 medium cloves, garlic, minced 1 teaspoon oregano, crushed 4 tablespoons butter or margarine 3 cups cooked rice cups cut-up cooked shrimp 2 tablespoons chopped pimiento teaspoon salt 2 cans ounces each) giblet gravy 10-pound turkey In saucepan, cook pepper, onion, and garlic with oregano in butter until tender. Add rice, shrimp, pimiento, salt, and te cup gravy.

Fill cavity of turkey loosely with rice mixture. Truss; place in roasting pan. Roast at 325 degrees F. about 4 hours or until tender (25 minutes per pound or 185 degrees F. on meat thermometer).

Remove turkey to serving platter. Spoon off fat, saving 1-3 cup drippings. In roasting pan, add remaining gravy to drippings. Heat, stirring to loosen browned bits. Thin to desired consistency with water.

Serve with turkey. Makes 10 to 12 servings. Miss Judith Lynn Dearth and Airman 1C Herbert E. Lashhorn Jr. were married Saturday, Nov.

H. E. Lashhorn Sr. of 3516 Williams Drive, Weirton. The bride wore a semi-formal two-piece ensemble of winter white antique satin linen.

The neckline was accented by seedpearls. Her tiered silk illusion veil was held in place by a pillbox of seedpearls. The headpiece was designed by Mrs. Samuel Lashhorn, aunt of the groom. She carried a satin covered prayer book, topped with a cascade of stephanotis and centered with an orchid.

Satin streamers enhanced the cascade. Miss Sandra Lashhorn, sister of the groom, was maid of honor, and Michael Podolak Church Class Election Held CHESTER An election of officers for the new term was held at the annual Thanksgiving dinner-meeting of the Gleaners Class of the Chester United Methodist Church. Mrs. Edna Auville was named president; Mrs. Shirley Ogden, vice president; Mrs.

Ruby Bragg, secretary, and Mrs. Sue McGowan, treasurer. Mrs. Violet Johnson was devotional service leader. Assisting her were Mrs.

Delia Houghton and Mrs. Oral McGowan. The next meeting will be a Christmas dinner on Thursday, Dec. 18. 2 Marriage Permits Issued WELLSBURG Two marriage licenses were issued in the County Clerk's office in the Brooke County Courthouse.

Those applying were: Bryan W. Wheeler of Steubenville and Jeanette M. Hunter of Follansbee, and Bruce R. Nornick and Deborah L. Zaverl, both of Wellsburg.

Mr. Lashhorn, also a 1966 graduate 'of Weir High School, attended the Hancock County Branch of West Liberty State College. He was formerly employed in the 54-Inch Strip Steel Department of Weirton Steel Division, and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force July, 1968. Mr.

She read a poem, "Thankfulness." Mrs. Nora 0ark, secretary, gave the treasurer's and secretary's report. A report on the club's trip to the Williamstown and New Martinsville glass factories was given. Plans were made for the Christmas party to be held Friday, Dec. 19, at 6 p.m.

A gift exchange will also be held. Mrs. Eleanor Lewis was introduced as a new member. Guests were Mrs. Margaret Davidson and Mrs.

Phyllis Clevinger. Mrs. Lewis won the special prize. Games were played during the social hour. Prizewinners were Mrs.

Helen Peters, Mrs. Ed Scully and Mrs. Pauline Munyas. CHESTER Mr. and Mrs.

Joseph Pecora of Rt. 30, Chester, have announced the engagement of their daughter, Joyce, to Leo David Parks HI. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo D.

Parks of 165 Leech Weirton. Miss Pecora was graduated from Oak Glen High School in 1969. Mr. Parks was graduated from Weir High School in 1967. He is a junior music major at West Liberty State College.

A January wedding is being planned. PARIS Mrs. Hilbert Pylcs, cookbook chairman of the Hanover PTA, has announced that the two separate cookbooks, Meat and Dessert editions of the Parents Parade of Recipes, are being sold only Sale By by the Hanover PTA.
