By IRVING DESFOR AP Newsfeatures Electronovision Theatrofilm Is a brand new term in the motion picture world. It is a process which combines and blends the advantages of motion pictures- high quality, permanence and wide distribution with the immediacy of television and the authenticity of any event taking place before any audience. Electronovision will make its official debut shortly (Sept. 23, 24) when the Broadway production of "Hamlet" starring Richard Butron is brought simultaneously to audiences in more than 1,000 motion picture theaters throughout the country. The newsworthy feature of the Theatrofilm process, photographically speaking, is that it is filmed by available light only.

We are aware of the vast amount of illumination a required in shooting motion pictures and television. When we think of a movie or television set, we visualize actors and cameras surrounded by lights-- REGULAR LIVESTOCK SALE EVERY TUESDAY 1:15 P.M. Member of N.I.M.A. SOUTHSIDE STOCK YARDS Inc. McKenzie Petersburg spotlights, arc and boom lights, floodlights, front, back and sidelights.

Theatrofilm, however, photographs and records an event only by the light with which it is viewed by an audience. Thus its special cameras are able to retain the dramatic mood seen by spectators at stage.plays, nighttime spectacles, sports events or any once-in-a-lifetime public affair. An Eleclronovision camera photographs a scene electronically, just like a television camera which it resembles. Many cameras are used to photograph an event simultaneously from different angles. The multiple images are transmitted to an electronic monitoring board.

The film director at this point must select one of the many views for permanent recording. By pressing a button, one selected camera angle is transmitted to an electronic converter. This changes the electronic impulses to an optical image on high-speed motion picture film. Images and camera angles are changed by the director as the action proceeds to provide the best views and to ensure a change of pace. Sound is recorded along with the visual image.

"Hamlet" was photographed by 15 strategically placed Electronovision cameras at a regular performance during its Broadway run. When the three- hour film is shown, a coast-lo- coast audience will see the complete stage show. Showings are limited to just two matinee and two evening performances. It is the first in a series of stage attractions slated for Theatrofilm production and Warner Bros, distribution in the nation's local motion picture theaters. It might also point the way to an electronic future for the still picture cameras of professional and amateur photographers.

It makes George Eastman's famous slogan, "You press the button; we do the rest!" a prophetic forecast of what lies ahead. New Technique Dramatic dueling scene from "Hamlet" shows Richard Burton in the title role and John Cullum as his adversary, Laertes. The Shakespearean tragedy will be brought to the nation's motion picture theaters as it was seen on Broadway through a new electronic-optical process. Special cameras photographed the stage show during a regular performance, by available light only. The special production can be seen locally later this month.

A reader in Ely, wrote that her garden had been infested with cutworms this summer as never before and asked what action to take against these ugly caterpillars. She said that in other years the cutworms would cut down the ground level and let it go at that. But this year they also crawled all over the plants and chewed the leaves.

If pou have only a few plants, a cardboard collar set an inch deep in the ground and high enough to prevent the cutworm from going over the top will protect tender growth. Large gardens make such individual barriers difficult. Dusting or spraying with five per cent DDT, chlordane or dieldrin is one mass treatment. RECORD SHOP STRICTLY OFF THE RECORD By John Montgomery And Calvin Townei THE SWEETEST SOUNDS- KATE SMITH This fine new RCA Dynagroove album features Kate Smith, who has- enjoyed a fantastic position in show business for the last 34 years. (RCA VICTOR STERO LSP-2921) CAPTAIN FROM CASTILE --ROBERT FARNON HIS ORCHESTRA.

The fine orchestra of Robert Farnon showcases some of better movie themes in this album (Philips). Farnon has long been recognized among American and European musicians as a resourceful and persistently tasteful arranger-conductor-composer. While he was born in Toronto, he remained in England at the end of his army career in 1946 and gradually developed his current sizeable reputation in the popular field. This album represents a continuing desire by Philips and by Quincy Jones, who produced the set, to acquaint American audiences with the scope and skills of Farnon. Here, with his fantastic mu- sical aggregation, he gives rich interpretations to Captain From Castile, Catana, Aztec Drums, Serenata, The Aztecs Conquest, Love Is A Many Splendored Thing, Charade, Friendly Persuasion, a Barbara, and 'S Wonderful.

Here's an album reflecting vivid imagination, with everything in precise place and balance. One that you will enjoy over and over! DeFranco and Guimina are two names that have been lined in jazz for some four years. This does not mean that they are the heavyweights of modern music, but simply two musicians who found out some years afo that they are estheticatly compatible.

Since this discovery was made, they have worked together whenever conditions made it desirable and profitable. In swinging style this album definitely establishes who is the greatest living jazz clarinetist and jazz accordionist. Tunewise there's The Girl From Ipanema, Spring Here, Never On Friday, Satin Doll, My Old Flam, Round About Midnight, I Love You Volyo Bene), It Could Happen To You, and an original by the boys, Lunar Lunacy.
