Game time is 5 o'clock. The two arch-rivals made it to the seven-team tourney final Saturday by vastly different routes. Passaic Valley (15-6-1) eliminated Pompton Lakes, a first round winner over Don Bosco Tech, 75, and Wayne Valley (20-5-1) blasted Wayne Hils. 16-0.

Hills ousted DePaul on Friday. The top -seeded Hornets drew an opening round bye and made their tourney debut Saturday. The usually free-swinging Hornets managed only three hits but losing pitcher Paul Sessa walked nine batters and reliever Bob Bowman issued three free-passes. Ken Schopp, who pitched Pompton to its 8-2 win over DBT, got the Cardinals off on the right foot with a two-out home run into the right field bleachers in the first inning. However, Passaic Valley bounced back with three runs in the home half of the first.

John Carluccio led it off with a walk and took second on a wild pitch. He scored on a hit by Jay Feola and a passed ball, after pitcher Mike Nie-wiadomski walked, left runners at second and third. Both men scored when shortstop John McCormick errored a grounder by Ken Belli. The-second Hornet hit was a double by Todd Hendershott in the second inning. Don Sch-three in the fifth without a hit and scored on the two-bagger.

Bob Maxey singled for PV in the sixth inning but was left stranded. The Hornets scored three in the fifth without a hti for a 7-3 lead. Pompton scored twice in the sixth. Wayne Valley tatooed three Patriot pitchers for 13 hits but the Wayne Hills defense didn't help; Eight errors were committed. The Indians held a 3-0 lead after four innings but four Patriot errors in the fifth helped Valley tally 11 runs.

Starter Bon Gifford gave way to Jay Hanenberg and Steve La-Scola in the fifth. LaScola gave up a two-run homer to Rich Koshlap and a solo shot to Bill Hanenberg. Winning pitcher Ed Carney had a double in the 11-run inning and led the Indians at the plate by going three-for-three. The tail end of coach Fred Paul's lineup was particularly effective as the No. 8 hitter, Dennis Foisy, had two hits in three at-bats.

Carney limited Hills to four hits. The only extra base blow by the Patriots was a double by outfielder Dave Wis-bauer. Carney's win was his fourth of the season and all four have been shutouts. Monday's Hincliffe Stadium title game figures to be very close. Passaic Valley beat the Indians, 5-2, in eight innings the first time they met this year and Wayne Valley came back to take the second tilt, 5-3, in 14 innings.

By CHICK PEZZANO Staff Writer TEANECK Bob Still, a 33-year-old analyst for IBM, won't have to spend too much time pondering the 1969 Golden Pins championship he won Friday night at Feibel's Rpcreation. It all boiled down to a pair of strikes he fired in the ninth and tenth frames of the final game to best fellow Long Islander Tony Marine, 203 lo 184. Still earned $1,000 for the win while Marine pocketed $500. Though the scoring in the final match was the lowest in many years, it was a tight contest all the way. Still, a glim, smooth stroker from Elmhurst, N.

rolled 182 and 183 in his first two games of the three-game final. Marine, who calls Middle Village, N.Y. home, had games of 192 and 173, giving him a 365 total, too. So the tournament, whirh started early in April with 1.01S contestants, was up for grabs in the final game, the 21st game for both Still and Marine. Still was steady but not spectacular as he started with three spares, rolled a strike, and then added four more spares.

Marine started with a strike and sparp, ran into a 1-2-4-10 spare which he failed to convert, but then fired a triple to take the lead by three pins. He lost it in the seventh frame when he ran Into the ugly 1-2 4-8-10 washout whirh he failed to convert. At the end of eight frames, Still led by seven pins hut needed a double to insure his win. "I knew if I didn't double, Tony probably would have. We've bpen bowling against each other for eight years and he's tough in the clutch." Marine.

Mueller took Doug Biro of Columbia three sets before bowing, 3-6, 6-2, 6 4. The doubles team of Andy Rork and Jim Potdevin gave Ridgewood its lone point. Columbia beat Teaneck to gain the final while Ridgewood ousted Princeton. Summit walked off with Group 3 honors and Chatham took the Groups 1-2 title.
