Wtirton Daily Timtt, March 1, MRS. JOHN F. FLENNIKEN Ida Frances June Takes Nuptial Vows FOLLANSBEE Double- ring vows, exchanged before the altar of St. Anthonys Catholic Church in Follansbee, united in marriage Miss Ida Frances June and John Frederick Flenniken Saturday, Feb. 13.

The Rev. Fr. Harold Moore, pastor of the church, officiated for the open church ceremony. Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs.

Rocco June of 819 Wood Follansbee. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Flenniken of RD 2, Bloomingdale.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of silk mist taffeta designed with a fitted bodice, Mandarin collar, Camelot sleeves and a controlled full skirt. Overlays of Chantilly lace enhanced the bodice and skirt. Her veil was designed in a mantilla mode with a chapel- length train of English net, and was held by a cap of Chantilly lace. She carried a spray of stephanotis and gardenias held with heirloom ribbon. Mrs.

George Taibi was matron of honor and the bride's only attendant. Serving as best man was Phillip Flenniken, nephew of the groom. The ushers were Robert and Mike June, brothers of the bride. Immediately following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church hall. Mrs.

Flenniken was graduated from Follansbee High School and was formerly employed by the State Dry Cleaners. Mr. Flenniken received his BA degree from Muskingham College and his Masters degree from the University of Northern Iowa. He is employed by the Indian Creek School District. They are residing at Fernwood Road, RD 2, Steubenville.

Rush Party Planned By Gamma Upsilon Plans for a "Rush Party" were made at a meeting of the Gamma Upsilon chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority held in the Millsop Community Center. Mrs. Romie Castelli membership chairman, announced that the party will be held Tuesday, March 9, in the Center. She noted that invitations have been sent to prospective members and the party will be in a hillbilly theme with everyone to dress accordingly. Assisting with arrangements for the event are Mrs.

John Fazi, Miss Jean Czernek and Miss Toni Petricca. The party and model meeting will be combined with all officers and committee chairmen giving resumes on their duties. Mrs. James Bowen, president, presided for the business session. Reports were given by Mrs.

Castelli, vice president; Mrs. Gerald Long, treasurer; Miss Mary Ann Ralston, recording secretary; Mrs. John Rybka, corresponding secretary, and Mrs. Renzelli, extension officer. Mrs.

George Gun-era, executive coordinating committee representative, reported that the annual spring social will be held Tuesday, March 30, at 8 p.m. in the Pleasant Valley Country Club. Gamma Upsilon is in charge of table decorations. Mrs. Renzelli, ways and means chairman, reported on the recent dance and Christmas card sales.

She also announced that the annual "Jack Frost Fantasy" will be held Oct. 16 in the Hanover Fire Hall. Music will be provided by "Smoke," formerly known as the O06's. Mrs. William Bowen, service chairman, announced that Dower arrangements were dis- tributed to the Weirton Convalescent Home Sunday, Feb.

28. The chapter's annual Founders Day banquet will be held April 27 and the Mother- Daughter Tea will be held May 11. The announcements were made by Mrs. Gurrera, social chairman. Other reports were given by Mrs.

Daniel Zajac, Mrs. Ben Jones, Mrs. Jack Wells and Miss Petricca. Chapter courtesies were extended by Miss Petricca, Mrs. Renzelli, Mrs.

Wells, Mrs. Jack Hatala, Thomas Fijewski, Mrs. William Polen, Miss Rose Caparros, Mrs. Rybka, Mrs. Michael Runkel, Mrs.

Kent Householder, Mrs. Fazi, Mrs. Gurrera and Mrs. James Bowen. Mrs.

Castelli reviewed the Book of Beta Sigma Phi on voting. The next meeting will be held March 9 in the Center. Mrs. Householder and Mrs. Zajac will be in charge of the program, "Sculpture." Board To Meet The executive board of the Weirton Heights PTA will hold a meeting today at 7:30 p.m.

The program, "Sculpture and Modeling," was presented by Mrs.

John Waskevich and Mrs. John Lestini. Mrs. Waskevich displayed vases and art objects which she had purchased while touring Russia and Czechoslovakia. Reports were given by Mrs.

Robert Dankovchik, secretary, and Mrs. Charles Kittle, treasurer. Chapter courtesies were extended by Mrs. Waskevich, Mrs. Anthony LaRosa, Mrs.

William Yocke, Mrs. Walter Miller, Mrs. James Byers, Mrs. James Gerlando, Mrs. Leonard Dankovchik, Mrs.

James Spano, Mrs. Thomas Koumaros, Mrs. John Sorrenti Mrs. Daniel Barach and Mrs. Yuhas.

Members welcomed Mrs. Leonard Dankovchik and Mrs. Waskevich who are back from a leave of absence. Mrs. Orlando Eafrati, ways and means chairman, gave a report on the recent chapter dance and announced that the next project would be a rummage sale to be held April 7-8 in the former Cable TV office.

Mrs. Frank Maffioli, social chairman, reported that the "Husband-Wife" social will be held March 20 in the Federal Terrace. The annual Beta Sigma Phi Spring Social will be held March 30. Miss Dlann Roksandich, executive coordinating committee representative, noted that reservations must be in by March 24. Mrs.

Sorrenti, vice president, read from the book of Beta Sigma Phi on the "International Endowment Fund" and Mrs. Maffioli was in charge of table decorations. The next meeting will be held in the home of Mrs. Anthony' LaRosa. Committee Heads Named For Card Party STEUBENVILLE Card party committee chairmen were named at a meeting of the Women's Club of The College of Steubenville.

The event will be held Tuesday, May 18, at 7:30 p.m. in Antonian Hall on the college campus. All proceeds from the benefit card party will be used to furnish a special room in the J. C. Williams College Center.

Hans and sketches of the new center were presented by John B. MacMurdo, director of development. Named as committee chairmen for the benefit were: Mrs. Robert L. Tuttle and Mrs.S.

J. Callas, refreshments; Mrs. Robert V. Fink, publicity; Mrs. Keith G.

Briscoe and Mrs. John W. Targoss, prizes; Mrs. Mary Salata and Mrs. Elaine Shuman, hostesses; Miss Genevieve Winski, door; Mrs.

George Gilmore and Mrs. Nick Contes, cards; Mrs. William Recinella and Mrs. Michael DiNicola, games; Mrs. Ralph Mantica and Miss Mary Ann Bushlow, grand prize drawing; Mrs.

Samuel B. Moffitt, confections, and Mrs. Salvatore Wright, decorations. Brother Paul McMullen, club advisor, presided for the business session. Following the meeting, the Very Rev.

Fr. Kevin Keelan, president of the College, addressed members. He spoke of the problems confronting campuses today and also expressed his gratitude to the members for their interest and support to the College. Valles Mr. and Mrs. Albert Valles of 115 N. llth St. have announced the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Mary to Seaman Mark Roach.

He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Roach of 132 Oak St. Miss Valles was graduated from Weir High School in 1969 and is employed as an inhalation therapy technician at Weirton General Hospital. Seaman Roach was also graduated from Weir High School in 1969 and is serving with the U.

S. Navy aboard the USS Nitro in the Mediterranean Sea. He is a Weirton Steel Division employe. They will be married Saturday, July 24, at 1 p.m. in St.

Pauls Roman Catholic Church. The Very Rev. Msgr. Sylvester W. Staud will officiate for the open church, double-ring ceremony.

Rebekah Lodge Holds Meeting Masters, noble grand, presided for the business meeting of the COLLIERS Mrs. Robert Colliers Naomi Rebekah Lodge held in the Colliers IOOF Hall. The obligation was recited by all members with Mrs. Eugene Richardson, vice grand, as leader, Mrs. Leland Moore, secretary, read from the Rebekah Journal. Mrs. Mike Welsh won the gift walk.

A luncheon was served by Mrs. Carl Maple and Mrs. Virgil Merrifield. The next meeting will be held Monday, March 8. A degree practice will be held prior to the meeting at 6 p.m.

Hostesses for the meeting will be Mrs. Virginia Herd and Mrs. Margaret Coates. The Brooke County chapter of the Federation of Democratic Women held a meeting in the Millsop Community Center. Members voted to help raise money for the Easter Seal campaign as a project.

Miss Diana Quattrocchi, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Quattrocchi, will represent the chapter. Miss Yolanda White was appointed as publicity chairman. Plans were discussed to attend Weirton's Tin Can luncheon in May.

It was announced that the chapter will hold a candy sale as a benefit project. The next meeting will be held Wednesday, April 28. -0- So many prospectors in the California Gold Rush of 1849 and the Klondike and Nome strikes in Alaska depended upon sour dough baked products for sustenance that the men themselves were dubbed "Sourdoughs." St. Anthonys Church Society Holds Meeting FOLLANSBEE 'Hie Altar and Rosary Society of St. Anthonys Church met in the church hall immediately following the Mass.

The business session was conducted by Mrs. Bernard Goleski, president. Mrs. Henry DiPietro reported on international affairs in the absence of Mrs. Dom DiBello, commission chairman.

She noted that 32,000 cancelled stamps have been collected and mailed to a mission. Members of St. Anne Circle sewed quilt pockets and Mrs. Italo DiVenanzo completed the quilt. Mrs.

DiPietro also reported that forty pairs of tennis shoes were donated and sent to a mission. Miss Katherine Traubert, deanery and parish commission chairman for church communities, announced that the Deanery Council of Catholic Women will hold a "Day of Recollection" in the near future. This spiritual event will be held for all the women of the deanery which includes nine parishes and is planned for St. Francis Center in Follansbee. A thank-you note was read by Mrs.

Sylvia senior members group chairman. Mrs. Carl Bailey, ways and means chairman, announced that the society will sponsor their annual spaghetti dinner Sunday, March 28. Plans for a trip to Pittsburgh were outlined by Mrs. James Stewart, entertainment chairman.

Members voted to charter a bus to attend the Ice Follies Wednesday, March 21. Mrs. Glen Andriano, community affairs chairman, collected donations from circle chairmen who participated in a door-to-door campaign for the March of Dimes. Mrs. Andriano was general chairman for the City of Follansbee.

Circle members collected in their own areas and covered the entire city. The next society meeting will be held Wednesday, March 10, in the church hall. Members of the St. Francis of Assist Circle will be hostesses. McHendry Class To Hold Meeting The Myrtle McHendry Class of the Cove United Presbyterian Church will meet Tuesday, March 2, at 7:30 p.m.

in the Fellowship Hall of the church. Mrs. Michael Hatala, president, will preside and Mrs. Richard Kimmel will be in charge of the devotional service. The program will be presented by the Sunset Chorus.

Hostesses will be Mrs. Nicholas Mourat and Mrs. Blake Williamson. Meeting Set By Homemakers The Oakland Homemakers Club will hold a meeting Tuesday, March 2, at 8 p.m. in the Brice Memorial Hall.

Thomas Falter, owner and operator of Thomas' Hair Stylist of Weirton, will present a program on wigs. Following the program, refreshments will be served by Mrs. Don Swain and Mrs. Clarence Riffee. MRS.

Merson are honeymooning in Rome, Italy, following their marriage Saturday, Feb. 20, at 1 p.m. in St. Anthonys Church, Steub- benville. The Very Rev.

Msgr. Paul L. Richter officiated for the open church, double-ring ceremony. Mrs. Merson is the former Danya Joyce Schiappa, daughter of Mr.

and Mrs. Dan Schiappa of 1804 Hamilton Place, Steubenville. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Merson of 1139 Tyson, Philadelphia, Pa.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a slipper- length gown of Chantilly lace, designed with a modified Empire bodice in a jacket effect, wedding ring collar trimmed with lace, long, tapered sleeves of lace and an A-line skirt. Her detachable Watteau train was fashioned of matching lace and silk organza and featured a row of bridal buttons extending the entire length of the train. A wreath of flowers held her bouffant veil of French silk illusion. She carried an old-fashioned bouquet of long-stemmed white roses. Mrs.

Anna Robertson was matron of honor. The bridesmaids were Miss Teresa Schiappa, Miss Celia Podoske, Miss Drinda Maxwell and Mrs. Sandra Kauffman. Lisa Farr was flower girl and Richard Farr Jr. was ringbear- er.

Serving as best man was William Mohr. The ushers were Richard Fair, Charles Kauffman, Richard Manichello and Dr. Richard Topolski. A reception was held in the Fort Steuben Motor Hotel. Following their return from Rome, the couple will reside in San Diego, Calif.

Mrs. Merson was graduated from Steubenville High School and Ohio State University where she was a member of Kappa Delta sorority. She is a medical technologist for the San Diego Internal Medicine Group. Mr. Merson was graduated from Northeast High School in Philadelphia and attended Temple University.

He is a sales representative for the American Photocopy Equipment Co. Tearose Twig Holds Meeting Mrs. Rudy Kusic of Palisades Drive was hostess to members of the Tearose Twig of Weirton General Hospital at a meeting held in her home. Presiding for the business session was Mrs. Michael Haines.

Reports were submitted by Mrs. William W. Kostar and Mrs. Virgil Smaltz. Prizes were awarded to Mrs.

John B. Kosar, Mrs. Earl Zagan and Mrs. Michael Baly. Assisting Mrs.

Kusic with hostess duties was Mrs. George N. Anas. The next meeting will be held Wednesday, March 24, in the home of Mrs. George Poprik of Allegheny Road, Follansbee.
