He entered show business when he and his olrlrr brother, Deo, formed a song-and-dance acl. His TV appearances have included a series called "Fantastic Studio" and "The Ford Theater." He's appeared in such movies as "Hondo" and "Ricochet Romance." His home is in Irglewoori, where his mother owns a dance studio. Q. The field day was the climax to a three-day meeting of a heltwide cotton mechanization conference held at College Station. At the experiment station, those i attending saw all major makes of mechanical pickers and strippers operate in the field. Dr. Elton Cook, agronomist at the Temple station, was in charge ol the mechanized operations. Bell Counly Agent Don Decker said farmers could save from $15 $20 per bale hy harvesting their cotton mechanically. Defoliants were applied to the cotton which was stripped about two weeks ago.

Harry Blasts Ike's Policy On Defenses CHICAGO, Sept. 9 --UP--Former President Harry S. Truman Friday accused the administration of "crippling national, defense" in order to reduce spending and be able to balance the budget and cut (axes in time lor the 1956 elections. He charged in a speech to the Executives' Club Chicago that administration cutbacks in the Army ground forces are "unjustified and most dangerous at the present time." Mr. Truman departed from his prepared text to lash out at Ihe Eisenhower regime, saying he has been "very much disturbed for some time by the administration's policy of crippling national defense in order to keep expenditures down." Inspired Plan Clitimeil He said he has heard repovls (hat this is a "political-inspired to balance budget and at the same time cut taxes." "It's too great a sacrifice to make on the political altar," he declared.

He said such a policy would hold "grave danger to our safely here at home and be disastrous to our Allies abroad." Joe, Father Of Baylor's Bears, Dies Old black Joe, the papa and guardian of Baylor University's bear a i died Friday.

He had heen the school's mascot since the Bentsen brothers of Mis- sion him to the university in March 1940.
