PUBLIC NOTICE NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING On Thursday, September 10, 1987 at 7:00 p.m. the Metropolitan Transportation Authority and the New York City Transit Authority will hold a joint public hearing on the reorganization of bus services in southeastern Queens. The meeting will be held in rooms 12 and 13 of the Community Center of Rochdale Village which is located at 169-65 137th Jamaica, New York 11434. The purpose of the hearing is to allow the Authority to present proposals designed under the auspices of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority to improve the regional transportation network and to solicit public comment on these changes affecting southeastern Queens. One element of these proposals is to extend the Q3 Jamaica-Springfield Gardens via Farmers Blvd.

to the Central Terminal Area John F. Kennedy Airport. Hours of operation will be increased from week'ays, peak hours only to seven days a week, from approximately 5:30 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. The second element of the proposal is to extend the Q5 JamaicaRosedale via Merrick Blvd.

route to the Green Acres Shopping Center, Valley Stream, located approximately 0.75 miles east of the New York County border. This extension is in accordance with the MTA policy of promoting regional transportation improvements and is being promulgated under MTA regional authority. The third element of the proposal is the merging of the Q5A JamaicaRosedale via Conduit Blvd. with its Q5AB Bedell St. Branch route, and renumbering the route(s) to the Q85.

These routes are currently operated as a single service in the late morning hours. The fourth element of the proposal is the elimination of the under utilized Q5AS Laurelton Shuttle. Elimination of this rush hour only, weekday service will result in minimal inconvenience since the area it traverses is well served by three existing bus routes. A report describing the proposal will be available at the Hearing. Persons wishing a copy in advance may obtain one at the Transit Information Center, 370 Jay Street, BrookLyn, New York between 9:00 a.m.

and 4:30 p.m. All persons wishing to speak may register at the nearing between 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. All speakers will be limited five (5) minutes for their presentations. Written testimony for incorporation in the record will be accepted by the assistant secretary of the Transit Authority: written statements will be accepted up to (5) days following the close of the hearing.

Speakers may register in advance by mail. Advance registration is recommended, as these speakers will be heard first. You may register in advance by writing to: OFFICE OF ASSISTANT SECRETARY New York City Transit Authority 370 Jay Street, (Room 829) Brooklyn, N.Y. 11201 Robert R. Kiley, Chairman David L.
