2 FILM. "Sitting Pretty" starring Clifton Webb, Robert Young and Maureen O'Hara U948. Delightful comedy about the genius babysitter who thinks he's above loving children. Webb's performance is a gem and if you haven't seen this original Belvedere film since '48, take a peck and laugh. 13 BIG MATCH.

A rare treat for chess fans. 15-year-old chess wizard Bobby Fischer wili play 13 top players at the same time. 4 MEET THE PRESS. Frank Coniff, national editor of Hearst Newspapers, joins the regular panel in interrogating Dr. Linus Pauling, the Nobel Prize winning scientist who is so anxious to ban further nuclear testing.

2 TWENTIETH CENTURY. "Auto An exceptionally entertaining segment to close out the season. Traces the automobile from its comical beginning to our current crowded highways. Best spots are a scene showing a man checking his early vintage vehicle before taking the family for a. spin and, by contrast, a futuristic car set on automatic for a long journey.

A bit too heavy on scenes of movie cars, but a lot of fun right up to a truck driver's final shrug. 7 MAVERICK. "Relic of Fort (Repeat). Another exciting hour with our gambling friend. This time Bret takes care of a crooked gambler called Honest Carl, who runs the Square Deal saloon.

He is aided by an animal left over from the old Errol Flynn films. 2 ED SULLIVAN SHOW. Mainly music tonight with Don Rondo doing "Dormi, Dormi, Art and Dotty Todd with their hit "Chansons D' Connie Francis and "Who's Sorry Bennie Fields and Blossom Seeley stylize "Gotta Have You Go With Me" and the rnn himself, Tony Martin. Ed has comics Wayne and Shuster back doing a routine they call "Brown Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt is a special guest with a salute to Israel on that nation's tenth anniversary.

4 STEVE ALLEN. Many men will consider part of tonight's show a public service spot: Allen kids the pants off the ludicrous new sack look in women's clothes. There's another visit with the "Question Man" and a take-off on those endless plugs T. V. guest stars make appearances for.

Musically, there's a welcome singing con- tribution by Rosemary Clooney of "I Guess I'll Have to Change My Plans" and "Who's Sorry Now" and Lionel Hampton brings the show to a swinging finale. 4 DINAH SHORE. A cute finale tonight as Dinah gives Nanette Fabray a baby shower. She opens with "Sentimental Journey" then her guests, Gisele Mac-Kenzie, Nanette, Julius La Rosa and Eddie Foy Jr. swing into "Bye, Bye, Gisele does some French songs including "Chansons D'Amour" and "Freres La Rosa solemnly sings "I Remember You" and ducts with Dinah to "Yes Sir, That's My Foy sings "In Times Like These" and Nanette contributes "All of a Sudden My Heart Sings" in what will understandably be Nanette's last show of the season.

(Color) 2 ALFRED HITCHCOCK. "Listen, Listen Edgar Stahli does a fine job in this little vignette about a man who desperately tries to tell the proper authorities his theory about a murder. Not the greatest drama of the year, but an odd play for Mother's Day. 7 MIKE WALLACE INTERVIEW. Tonight's guest, Supreme Court Justice William O.

Douglas, will be asked whether he thinks Americans are taking advantage of their freedom of speech. Justice Douglas will also explain why he feels that un-American political causes like Communism and Fascism must be permitted to speak their minds. Justice Douglas will claim that silencing even extreme minorities constitutes a greater threat to our democracy than anything these people could say or do. 2 LATE SHOW. "Odd Man starring James Mason (1947).
