He was 83. Dr. Waters and his twin brother, the late Fr. James Waters, were born in New York City on April 22, 1935. From an early age, Dr.

Waters kept his parents and teachers busy with his energetic nature and inquisitive mind. He earned a B.A. from Manhattan College, an M.A. from the University of Notre Dame, and a Ph.D. from Columbia University.

Dr. Waters and the late Dr. Brenda Meehan, his then-wife and lifelong friend, moved to Rochester in the 1960s, soon beginning their family and careers. Focusing on U.S. colonial history, Dr.

Waters taught at the University of Rochester from 1965 to 1998. He remained a proud Yellow Jacket all his life. In 1968, Dr. Waters published The Otis Family in Provincial and Revolu- tionary Massachusetts, which earned praise as superb multi-generational study of a family central to the history of early The book won the Jamestown Prize from the Institute of Early American History Culture in Williamsburg. At his retirement, Dr.

Waters was lauded as leading figure in the social the study of the lives of ordinary people which made use of heretofore unexploited sources and sophisticated quantitative techniques to lay bare the particulars of life, death, birth, marriage, and family is something of a misnomer for Dr. last two decades. A passionate traveler, he took his family on adventures ranging from Maya sites in Central America to the winding streets of Sicily to the Maritime Provinces of Canada. He thrilled friends with his gourmet cooking and Jeopardy-worthy range of knowledge. He was also an enthusiastic tennis player and a stalwart member of St.

Episcopal Church in Rochester. Dr. Waters is survived by two daughters and their lively and loving fam- ilies. Elder daughter, Megan Waters, lives in Takoma Park, Maryland, with her wife, Catherine Eiff, and their sons, Xavier and Matthias Eiff-Waters. Younger daughter, Karen Waters lives in Seattle, Washington, with her hus- band, Colin Macdonald, and their sons, Tate and Ross Waters Macdonald.

Friends may call Friday, Sept. 21, 4-7 PM at the funeral chapel (2305 Monroe A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, Sept. 22, 11 AM at St. Episcopal Church, 25 Westminster Road. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the John J.

Corona (Moore) (Mallette) HENRIETTA Sep- tember 16, 2018 at age 80. Survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Eileen (Davis); sons, Edward James both of St. Pete Beach Florida; daughter, Jane (John) Kehoe of West Henrietta; He was the best Papa to his grand- sons, Justin Kehoe Jordan (Marissa) Kehoe and James Ed is also survived by his brother, Norbert sisters, Margaret Mary Jo brothers-in-law, James, Jerry John Davis; several cousins, nieces nephews and his walking companion, Bailey.

He is predeceased by his parents and two sisters. Ed was a U.S. Army Veteran and dedicated retiree of Wegmans, having worked 30 years in the bakery at the Brooks Ave location. BRIGHTON Age 89. God called Sister Marie Marshall, RSM home, September 16, 2018 during her 70th year as a Sister of Mercy.

Sister Marie entered the Sisters of Mercy from St. Salome Parish. She received a BS in English from Medaille College, Buffalo, NY. After teaching in Diocesan Catholic schools for twenty years, Sister Marie turned her talents into working with senior citizens for Monroe County Office for the Aging. As the clown, she worked with puppetry and storytelling along with her clown doll, and her invisi- ble dog, She also enjoyed doing crafts with the senior sisters and while working with the Catholic Family Center.

She received many awards, including Catholic Family 2003 Volunteer of the Year. In January 2006, a letter from President George W. Bush and a certificate presented by the Council on Service and Civic Participation, ac- knowledged her 16 years of service for strating the best of the American Survivors include her sister, Carol Shannon Marshall, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, nephews, friends, and the Sisters of Mercy. Friends are welcome Thursday, September 20, from 4 to 7 PM at Mercy Center, 1437 Blossom Road, with a vigil service at 7 PM. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, September 21, 10:00 AM at Mercy Center.
