S. Soldiers Contribute Nearly $4,000 to French Children's Christmas. AdolpK Zukor presents was literally crammed with Franc bills. The contributions for Christmas presents for the children came almost entirely from men, officers being limited to contributions of ten francs each. One unit alone averaged five francs or about one American dollar for every enlisted man.

It was quickly found that the contributions far exceeded the amount necessary to provide for the 600 refugee and orphan children whose names wore enrolled by local soldiers' committees in each town, consequently all the children in the divisional area will receive candy, an orange and a top from an American Santa Claus. In addition coats and shoes will be given to the refugee children, for the weather is cold and there is no money to provide for the wants of the Tttle bodies except it comes from charity. Confections That Are Worth While. These are war times and sugar candies that is to say candies in which the principal ingredients is sugar are not in fashion. But there are any number of superb confections that can be made without sugar or with only a minimum.

There will be a superb offering this Saturday of Fancy Chocolate Wafers, made of fine Vanilla Chocolate at the special price of 69c. "Daddy." wrote the little Southern girl. "I am sending you this letter, with some little colored pictures I made. Won't you please give them to the little girls and boys whose fathers were killed In the war and maybe will have no Christmas." "Daddy" happened to be the Quartermaster Colonel of one of the first American Divisions landed in France. In physique he is a little man but he has a big heart. To quote his own words: Howard S.

EXECUTIVE OFFICES 210 Mtfaihn Bailing Phone 129 Hackensack December 13, 1917. TO THE PEOPLE OK HACKENSACK The undersigned are taking the liberty of addressing the people of Hackensack with reference to the stock offering of the United Cinema Theatres Company, It appears to be prevalent in the minds of a good many people of this city that this proposition lacks stability, carries an essence of great risk, is an experiment, and in general a rather timid, cautious feeling toward this enterprise exists. It is to offset this feeling and create a truer view of the situation that this advertisement appears. The attitude on the part of the people was thoroughly justified previous to the reorganization. At the present time and under present management, it is undeniably false.

It is an impression and feeling that we have taken upon ourselves to adjust. Not from any mercenary point of view, not to persuade, but rather induce sales, with the best interests of the Company at heart, and a basic principal for a foundation, a principal that has been in the past, a demonstrated success and will in this case, be a howling success. Regardless of whether you become financially interested or not, it is only fairness and justice to the men serving the present shareholders, that the people of I Iackensack should be put right, and understand this issue as it really exists. We will endeavor to outline it briefly and in doing so, beg your indulgence should it appear too much at length. This Company wasformed and organized in July of this year, chartered under the State laws of Delaware at a capitalization of $1,000,000.

All common stock of the par value of one dollar a share. No bonded indebtedness. No Preferred stock and fully paid and non-assessable. The idea was conceived and launched by one B. M.

Wood, a promotor, who saw at the time, very clearly the immense earning possibilities. Visionary and frenzied finance ideas combined with an over abundant, egotisical desire for prestige, luxury and ease carry the project at a merry clip the first month; So much so, that the expense account for the general conduct of tne business showed far in excess of what it should have proportionately been. This condition was detected by the stockholders, the majority of which were Hackensack men, of good foresight, and a committee appointed to protect their interests. The result of the investigation committee, was a final resignation of B. M.

Wood, then acting as President, and the taking over and general reorganization of the Company along legitimate and true lines- Promotion and bonus stock issued and held by B. M. Wood as promotor, was eventually turned back to the treasury and the Company was then laid out along the lines of "A STOCKHOLDERS' COMPANY." At the present writing every share of stock that is outstanding has been bought and paid for on the same p'p, fl! rectors and officers of the Company included, so that every stockholder of record must and will share in the division of the profits proportionately alike. The Company, since the reorganization, under judicious and business-like management, has forged ahead in bounds. As we stand today the erection of the first house is a distinct accomplishment.

Vindicates the judgment of those shareholders who expressed their entire confidence in electing the present management; Proves conclusively the merit of the enterprise and the sincerity and purpose of those serving on the Board. With the opening and operating of this house, all doubt, timidity and caution on the part of the outsiders, should be removed. It is coming to pass, and no power aside from the Almighty, can prevent it. The Company now is practically in its infancy. It is perfectly natural at this stage to be in need of funds to finance it.

In much the same position as the child crying for food to develop Those who put their faith in the present management and BUY IN now before the Company is completely financed, are the ones whose foresight will reap the harvest in Cash Profits and Dividends. NOW RIGHT NOW Prior to the opening of the Hackensack house, you have an opportunity of buying the stock at 75c a share. The allotment at this price will be quickly absorbed by the far-seeing element. Let us urge you to take on all you possibly can at this price; Let us be the means of converting you to a proposition, the earning possibilities of which are enor nous if only one half as successful as we anticipate.
