Neither Gisele Mackenzie nor her producer were informed by N. B. C. why her T. V.

show for Saturday, has been preempted and will be off the air for this one night. It must be something very important. But Gisele isn't upset. She's too happy at this opportunity, the first she has had in seven years, to fly to Canada and spend the holidays with her parents. She planed out this morning, following her Saturday night show, loaded with gifts for her family.

Big doings will be staged in Winnipeg during her visit. A civic reception is being planned for her arrival tomorrow morning with Giselle riding at the head of a parade to the family home. The story would have us believe that there was a mix-up in cardiograms and that's how the asinine plot line was tied together for purposes of T. V. I've received this morning a letter from the American Medical Association which speaks for itself. The assistant director of the department of public relations writes me as follows: "Dear Mr. Scheuer: "We are very much interested In your recent comment regarding the Hitchcock 'Suspicion program on the mixed-up cardiograms.

"You might like to know that the American Medical Association has a physicians advisory committee on television, radio and motion pictures to check scripts on a voluntary basis for broadcasting and film producers. This committee has offites both in Los Angeles and New York. "Early this year the script which you saw enacted was submitted to the committee by the producers of the C. B. S.

Hitchcock show. Our physicians advised that the program not be produced for exactly the same reasons as you outlined in your column. The script was pulled out of production for the C. B. S.

series, but when material was assembled for the N. B. C. 'Suspicion' programs, it popped up again. "Once again, when the program came to the attention of the American Medical Association, both the producers and N.

B. C. continuity clearance were advised of the inaccuracies in the story line. The show was filmed anyway. "It's good to know that someone else besides, our committee members felt the 'same way about the production." This is typical of the idiocy that goes on in certain parts of the T.

And what better place than Paris? "I was doing quite well, too," he recalled. "I had a 1-man show and got very good notices.

But I discovered a hard fact: that critical success and monetary reward do not necessarily go hand-in-hand." Being 6 foot 3 with a hearty appetite, he had to seek some other means of earning a living. Friends convinced him he could get jobs from European film makers, who were seeking young American types. So he gave it a try and did quite well, working from French and Swedish companies as well as in the Kirk Douglas flim, "Act of He returned to the U.
