RLDS Church Women install officers for 1979 The 1979 officers were installed last night when members of the Womens Department of the Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints met with Mrs. William Woodworth. Mrs. Roger Parson, women leader, presided over the meeting which opened with prayer by Mrs.

Vincent Heath. Devotions were led by Mrs. LaVerne Parson. Her text was Matthew 2:6 and she read a poem, Lovely in His Sight. Ten members answered roll call with a Christmas wish.

The hostess served refreshments at the close of the meeting. PEO has Christmas luncheon Tuesday Members of Chapter PEO, had a Christmas luncheon at Menegay's Restaurant Tuesday. Helen Thompson, Jane Bowlus, Barbara McIntosh, Paula Sutherland and Karen Gilpin shared the hostess dutues. The program, Music Sound and the Christmas Story, was presented by Bemadene Snodgrass, Madge Strickler and Carol Mix. The group sang Christmas carols and exchanged gifts Twentieth Century Club has Christmas meeting KINCAID The Twentieth Century Club had its Christmas meeting Sunday at the Mildred Community Building.

Mrs. Jim Lamb was the hostess. Dr. and Mrs. Willis Dick of Iola and Mrs.

Sutton of California, all of whom have done missionary work through the Seventh-day Adventist Church, were guests. Dr. Dick showed slides and Mrs. Dick commented on their work while in the Philippines. A gift exchange followed the presentation and Marie Gretten, club president, presented a warm plate protector to each one present.

The next meeting will be Jan. 12 with Ethel and Alice Van Buskirk. Beauceants elect new officers at Thursday night's meeting Officers for 1979 were elected at Thursday night's meeting of Iola Assembly No. 50, Social Order of Beauceant. Mrs.

In the medical field alone, the church operates nearly 400 hospitals, clinics, medical launches and airplanes. Here in Iola, the Community Service Center at 223 North State gives food and clothing assistance to over 150 families each year. Mrs. Florice Bales is the director of that program.

The church also sponsors health education classes including stop smoking plans, weight control classes and nutrition education. The most recent project was the opening of the child care center in October providing baby sitting for working parents with emphasis on early childhood education. All funds taken in during this drive are processed through the existing channels of the church, Pastor Curtiss Dale said, so as to cut administrative costs to nearly nothing. J. M. Powell and her uncle, John Powell. Cars driven by Thelma Smart, 212 South Kentucky, and Melvin Ward, Route 3, collided in front of the post office in Gas yesterday. Melinda Britt, 520 East Jackson, reported to police yesterday that eight-track tapes were stolen from her car.
